A newer way to apply for jobs via your smartphones

Hello Rodinhooders,

I am Faisal. I have a product called Super Resume Builder. That helps people create their resume instantly on their cellphones and start applying for jobs. I started my career working with a IT firm. I created this app because I was too lazy to put up my own resume while I wanted to switch my job.

Progress :

I have been working on this app full time for last 6 months and its the top rated resume builder available on Google Play. Today we have around half a million job seekers using our platform to get the best job. We get around 100k screen views every day and have been rated over 8200 times on Google play.

How it started :

I love building products. I had a knack of building apps and putting them online for live audience. When people use something you built and thank you for it. Ah! can’t beat that feeling.

Imagine you are travelling in a public transport here in Mumbai. You see 10 people out of 15 sitting around you on their smart phones. Out of those 10 you see 7 playing candy crush. What if you were the developer of candy crush? People don’t know you there, but yes they know your work. They are using something you built. That feeling is priceless.

I started my career working with a service based company. Way back in 2013, I used to publish small apps on play store and I used to enjoy when they were downloaded and used. I was also looking for a job change. The first thing I needed to do so was my resume. And trust me, I was very lazy to create my resume and upload it on job portals. I had a colleague of mine as well who wanted to do the same thing. What he did was he searched and found out websites that offered resume creation but could not find a good on mobile phones.

I thought over this idea and found it great as mobile is always with people and resume creation was a time consuming task. Would be great if people could create their resume on phone while they are travelling or listening to music and are not around their desktop.

I scraped up a version 1.0 and published it on Google play. People started using it and providing me with feedback. Version 1.0 was not that great. It had a basic UI and just two templates with minimal design. I started iterating over the feedback I used to get from my very few users. And yes! the results were satisfying.

We have also recently launched on iOS.

We have several features that enhance the job application process with your resume. One of the hot favorite feature is public url. Every user can publish his resume online on a unique url for others to view it.

this is interesting faisal and a real gap you’re addressing.

quick q – i am very old school when it comes to choosing people – to me – more than the formal resume – the covering note and the way the candidate answers the tasks i’ve given count more.

there is no template for that aye? but i guess you could suggest creative tips on how to write good covering notes etc.

okay – i will share this with rajat of getsetresumes – you guys have synergies so let’s see if it helps!

We dont have cover letter feature right now. But we have plans to launch it in upcoming versions

Hey Asha,

Its been a crazy ride so far. Super Resume Builder has become only “Super” now. We are now Tinder for jobs in India. We have grown crazily over fast few months.

I will post the happenings shortly in a new thread 🙂
