‘Appucino’ Case Study – Request for feedback

The games2win team just finalized this ppt for our new platform called APPUCINO.

They request for your feedback in terms of what you think of the ppt, does it make its point, and does it excite the person it’s aimed at (the developer) to try APPUCINO.

Please be honest and brutal in your feedback.

  1. I am not sure if I would like to play by challenging people around me .

Would rather play with friends and send notification to ones in my phonebook. This will lead to more users downloading the game and me getting more friends to play with.

I am not much of an “Alerts” fan as well . Over a period of time it is frustrating and I tend to lose focus, while I am playing with friends.

Suggestion is to have a leader board to show rankings, friends making cricket teams ( if this can be supported by the game ), and other such things…

  2. Take this use case….suppose i download a game from developer 1 [the game uses Appucino platform, 2.5mb], post this i download another game from developer 2 [ this too has Appucino in it]….does the Appucino platform download itself twice onto my phone. If yes, it isn’t nice to waste memory on the user’s handset for each time a game with Appucino in it is downloaded.

  3. Yes, each app needs to have the SDK in it.  It’s similar to how each Unity-powered or OpenFeint-enabled game needs the SDK to be part of the app.  Part of this is due to how Android has some restrictions on installing shared services, and part of this has to do with not wanting to force users to download two applications (one the game, and the other the one-off “platform”)

Given some time, our plan is to have a mother app.  As well as to reduce the size of the SDK.

  4. We had cracked this in Brew a few years back [in my previous company]…Brew is said to be more stringent as compared to others. There is another way to go about this. Though i’m not sure if that would work in Android too. We can take it offline. or ping me on kinnari.dave@gmail.com

  5. Kinnari, have added you as friend on TheRodinhoods, and send you a mail separately. Would love to hear your idea.

  6. A flaw I find in the case is that it projects the data only 1 month after Appucino collaborated with the cricket App. The data could be inflated because of the way the product was marketed and possibly it did entice gaming enthusiasts at first. we don’t know! Will it be a sustainable model? I would love to see the same data 6 months from now.

  7. Will keep you posted.  Till then, rest assured promotion / marketing before or after Appucino remained the same.

Also, Appucino doesn’t claim to be a replacement to normal cycle of mobile application development – your content needs to be good, and you need to have periodic update cycles.

What Appucino DOES do, however, is add time spent – which translates to more ad impressions if you’re an ad-based app or more consumer goods if you have virtual transactions, or simply more involvement in your app.
