BNI - Business Networking and Referral Marketing (Feedback Required)

I recently attended a BNI event as a visitor and the overall concept looks interesting. Members discussed big numbers and everything looks good from outside. So, I would like to have a first hand feedback from someone who is (or has been) a BNI member. Few specific questions are as follows:

  1. How real are the numbers? (Real / Little-Exaggerated / Highly-exaggerated)
  2. The main selling point of BNI is that every member in the chapter tries his best to provide a referral. Does this create some kind of pressure in case someone becomes a member and is unable to provide any referral?

Please feel free to provide any other related inputs. Appreciate it.

@Rahul Suresh Mansaramani Sir might be able to help you with this. I believe he is involved with BNI in some way.

Amit

My understanding is that BNI is good for some people - like lawyers, insurance agents, consultants, design firm - service base professionals who are needed by one and all. If you are in a niche profession (say you are a consultant for mergers and acquisitions or a PHP developer) - unlikely to be of much help.

What does 'Rodinhood' mean?

Rodinhood is inspired from Rodin - who sculpted 'The Thinker' and Robin Hood who 'got things done'. Hence Thinking+Doing = Rodinhood.

The best place for enterprising folks to hang out, share, make like-minded friends, get feedback and soak in a pool of vast experience.
