Box Cricket International 2014!

Season of cricket has come. With IPL 2014 started just a few days ago the nation has caught the cricket fever again. Being in the games industry is all about perfect timing and launching products that get the attention of people in THAT particular time. With perfect timing and good quality of game, you can engage millions of users in your games and get amazing reviews. We all have already seen that happening with Alok Sir’s ‘Kursi Cricket’ game which became a huge hit during this election season. Even our company launched ‘Cricket Tap 20’ which was displayed on the front page of Google PlayStore for 4 continuous days in the ‘Popular Cricket Games’ category. But as human tendency goes: “Yeh dil maange more!”, we were also not satisfied by this one success and we wanted to keep going in the forward direction now. So, we decided to launch yet another cricket game and thats how the idea of ‘Box Cricket International 2014‘ was born!

Box Cricket International 2014 is a unique game concept in its own right. With the T20 fever concept tried and tested, we wanted to have something unique in the PlayStore which would be definitively OURS. With sooooo many cricket games already out there on PlayStore what would make our game so different than the others? With these things in mind we decided to take a risk with choosing ‘Box Cricket’ as a concept to develop on. If you don’t know what Box Cricket is: Box Cricket is a type of game play of the popular sport Cricket wherein you can’t hit sixes, if you hit six then you are OUT! Also terms like 1D and 2D mean 1 run and 2 runs respectivelty. The concept itself will consume this entire article so I wouldn’t go much in the specifics of the concept, but the game itself.

So, here we were. Locked on a concept for almost 1 and a half month now. We had initially decided to launch the game on 12th April, 2014 because that would have given us room before the IPL matches started. However because of last moment work pressure and the hugeness of the concept of ‘Cricket’ as a whole the game was delayed for launch. In fact, let me tell you one thing, the game was entirely made from scratch in the last 1 week right from the very first line of code for the game! So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we developed 3 cricket games this season! 😀

A little bit about the game: Box Cricket International 2014 is our 8th game on the PlayStore market. The game has some really amazing graphics and fluid menu screens and transitions. The colors used in the game were carefully studied to be visually appealing. You can play with 8 different teams namely:

1. Australia

2. Bangladesh

3. England

4. India

5. Pakistan

6. South Africa

7. Sri Lanka

8. West Indies

We have used some really funny and appealing caricature artworks for the cricketers and named them amazing different names. Of course Sachin Tendulkar has been named ‘God’ in the game. That is the only real name used! 😀 😉

The game has 34 odd achievements to unlock with two categories of batting achievements and bowling achievments. It is an attempt to make an amazing experience to play cricket. With score popping up while playing the game, it makes for a very great experience as well. Go ahead and try for yourself!

Anyways, it was a tough yet rewarding experience for us to develop this game. Regardless of how the game fares now, we are quite content with the effort we’ve put in till now but still our ‘Dil maange more’ so we won’t stop here and would be releasing updates for the game based on user reviews. You, the reader, also feel free to comment and let us know what would you like to see more in our game. Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gameeon.box.cricket
