Why do you want to put in the age barrier on when to become a CEO? Thats something which should not exist and i have seen this almost everywhere.

Any individual who is good enough for the post should be given the post. Even if he is 20 years or even if he is 40+ years of age.

Any CEO according to me should definitely have the following qualities:

-Patience

-A good listener

-An amazing talker

-Risk taker (calculated risks i mean, even though following your heart wouldn't be bad either ^_^)

-Leader

-An ability to grasp opportunities

-Adjustable

-Creative and finally someone who respects competition yet tries to defeat it.

Age has nothing to do with a CEO's designation.
Experience does...someone with limited or no experience can also learn 'on the job' to become an effective CEO..how much time it takes depends on each ones capabilities and the situation one is in.

Hi Sameer

True..! Thanks for the inputs .

Mostly....people with just 1-2 years of work experience or better still, with no work experience make excellent CEOs. Without work exp, a young ceo would make outstanding, crazy and invaluable mistakes !...which basically is the best way to go.

Long long before there used to be a press ad for Signature Whisky and the copy said- "Who says you cant be CEO before 36?" and alongside it there was a photograph of an immaculately dressed young gentleman.

That was one of my all time favourite ads and inspired me a lot...

Since then I have been aiming to beat that mark and guess in all probability I will...

Hi

Great Inputs..Thanks....

Regards

Being a CEO is totally a different thing than being an entrepreneur. I can say that most of the entrepreneurs are not fit to be CEOs. It needs a whole bunch of skills to manage processes, people and mechanisms. Entrepreneurs who realize this soon do go long ways ...

One of my friends, Chandrasekhar, jumped into the shoes of CEO of a web designing company after his 12th, merely at the age of 16. The clientele increased from 40 customers to 320+ in just one year and he himself has designed around 700+ websites. And now, he is pursuing his engineering and he will be a graduate engineer by 2012.

Even though its not any billion dollar company and he is still not a billionaire, he is still a succesful CEO.

Hi Rohit

This is cool...!! Hats off to him...!

I am an entrepreneur who got a Founder and CEO card printed 11 years ago [ I was 19 ]. My father looking at the card once said ' CEO' on your card means Chief Expenses Officer :) as I always have a plan on how to use the money that the company makes.

I have sailed my company through 2 recessions and experienced 1 boom. Have been able to attract great talent to work with us and have customers who value our work. Have been continuously setting a vision of what Tekno Point can become and am committed to unfold our potential.

I really do not know if I am a CEO material , but the way things are my card still says CEO.
Hi Aditya

I dont agree to this....Most of the Enterprenuers are successful CEO's as .they have put in their soul to build their business , which is displayed through skills and immense talent. Unless they manage processes and people they cant build anything.....ie CEO material.

Hi Himanshu

Your sailing through the recessions and above all, you customers who value your work , customers who want to partner with you is the best recognition of being a successful CEO ..!
