Hi All,
I have been working with B-School for 7 years, and now I want to start my own business of Corp Events. I am working on it since last 3 months. Name of the company has been finalized, and my Web Site is under construction. I have few queries:
1. How should I start approaching corporates for the same?
2. What is the time/period to approach corporates?
3. How is the sustainability of the said business?
hope to get few inputs from all of u...
Regards,
Gayatri

Create an excellent profile on LinkedIn and start making corporate contacts on LinkedIn. Create a database from all these sources (LinkedIn, mailer responses, personal contacts etc). Hire a customer agent to make calls or do it yourself. Things will start falling into place automatically.
I did not understand your second question. Corporates can be approached anytime during business hours unless you meant something else.
Sustainability is very good as long as you are able to remain competent. It can become something you can do for the next 15 years.
All the best.

I would say that corporates are mostly swayed by your experience in handling large or small events smoothly.
They would be looking at what you have done so far and what kind of team you have . Corporates are easy if you have some experience and exude great confidence.
Nowadays even the corporates slog with your team in making sure an event goes smoothly. All they need is a can-do attitude and a proven team which you must put forward.
Just start making cold calls and make sure to reach the right person or you might end up wasting your time with some lower rung , big ego kinda guy.
Corporate events are a hectic , fast paced, acidity prone life but the end result , but if one is good, is a great satisfaction of an event well done. Loads of bouquets or brick bats !!! :)
Best of Luck
