Help with stay in San Francisco

Hi all,

This post is to request a help.

I am a developer turned entrepreneur based in Kerala, India. I was lucky to get invited for Google I/O annual developer conference in San Francisco later this year in June for contributions to community activities as a part of Google Developer Group Cochin

Unfortunately I don’t have any contacts there and a quick search for hotels shows its very costly to stay there. Hence checking here to see if there are any kind rodinhooders who can help me with stay for a couple of days in SF.

Thanks in advance.

  4. Thank you! added in the other threads too 🙂

  5. Sanjay — I’m guessing you’ll find some Rodinhooder who might be able to host you for couple of days. However, if that doesn’t work out, instead of looking for hotels, try the following:

    1. Airbnb: find cheap hostels/people that share their apartments on a nightly basis – will cost you around $30-$50 per night in the city.

    2. Couchsurfing.org: Couchsurfing is free if you find a host, but you’re expected (no body will force you though) to buy/give a gift/something as a token of appreciation. In order to become a member on the network there’s an annual membership fee which is very nominal.

    Couple of suggestions:

#1. Google I/O is in Mosocone Center (I guess) which is right in the city and well connected by BART/Caltrain/Muni etc., but even if you find accommodation for free/cheap somewhere far from city, I’d recommend you go for a hostel or shared acco. in the city. The reason, if your accommodation is not near a BART/Caltrain station you will eventually spend at least $10 (or more if you need a taxi) in commute + lot of time which I’m not sure is worth if you’re going for couple of days. I’d rather use that time to explore city. #2. Try to spend couple more days (a weekend) and see SF. It’s worth spending that extra few bucks. 🙂

P.S. I no longer live there, otherwise I’d have offered my place. 🙂

  6. Thank you so much Rishi. I will keep all those in mind 🙂 checking out couchsurfing already and since this is my first trip, all these suggestions are really helpful, Thank again! btw let me know of any must visit places in SF 🙂

  7. Ping me once you know how many days you’re planning to stay, and I can suggest accordingly. My email: rishikesh.g@gmail.com
