How much will you pay for a full time Web Designer ?

I believe irrespective of the space in which your company is , it will be extremely useful to have a full time web-designer in your team.

I want to understand the mindset of start-ups and growing companies on how important do they think it is for their company to have a full time web designer in their team.

Also how much money do you think you will pay to an extremely  well trained web designer who is say a fresher ?

Please share your views. I need this information as part of market research for a course we are creating  at Tekno Point.

Could not think of a better place then the rodinhoods to get views from founders of start ups and growing organisations

  1. There are many many claiming to be an expert in webdesigning.Once they get the order, it is somebody doing the job. They do not have proper co-ordination. Some do not even bring laptop to show a demo  to explain how our site will look like or how we want our site to be. They make such tempting promises, we fail to see whether they will really make a good webdesign & website. And we place the order for a web site.

Once the sales person gets the order, they forget the timings promised and then a never ending waiting for our site to be made.It is a teamwork generally. But unless you have strong team, it is difficult to execute the order. In a team, everybody should be an expert, ready to work hard, take responsiblity, commitment etc. Otherwise we after paying are the advance sufferers. When the order is taken to make a site, see to it what kind of design your client wants.show some demo. show some sites if you have already made.

Still waiting for my site to be made since 2 months after paying an advance.ph-9821054556.

  2. Designing is creating art.. and art has no ‘fixed’ value. As they say, beauty lies in the eyes of beholder: you need to gauge and determine the value of the design. Normally, companies checkout the last drawn salary and based on this info, determine their current salary, balancing the designer’s expectations and your budget. Starting salary in Delhi is somewhere around 15k / month, which can go up to 2 lakh/month (sommeone who I know) or more, depending on the skillset and experience..

  3. Would very much agree with Mohul. Had owned a startup last year and the good scale that keeps a designer motivated and employer feel worthy can be Rs. 25-30,000 for a well trained fresher to start with. How well trained and great he is, you can clearly figure out within a month. And this would be enough to help you decide what revenues he can help you generate for his skills and give a great raise accordingly. A happy employer and a happy designer.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Himanshu, I think you will need to clarify,

    • Web designer
    • web developer
    • both or
    • one person knowing both

  9. thanks mohul for your input.

  10. ya I understand lot of such things happen.  We are creating a course called Become a Professional Web Designer and are including a topic called work ethics.  I think lot of talented people spoil their career by taking bad decisions with clients or employers. Hopefully this will make some difference.
