How to promote a link of a marketplace?

Hello Rodinhooders. My query is if I don’t have a website but my products are live on some marketplaces like fashionandyou.com then what will be the best way of promoting the link? Like this link https://m.fashionandyou.com/roemily-house-ethnics. The catch is that these events are live just for a 3 day event. So how can we promote such links to get the maximum traffic to the required page?

Thanks for replying . Well, i already run a fanpage on facebook – url – https://www.facebook.com/womenspride87

This is the only promotion i go through for each of my event .

What can be other economical modes of promotion on this massive digital world??

  3. Isn’t it the marketplace supposed to do the marketing? Why pay the marketplace commissions for visitors brought by you? Just curious…

  4. rohit – i’m not an ecom specialist – but i do know that a fb fan page is very different from a facebook store!!

  5. Hi rohit
Sandeep is actually right.. You shouldn’t spend anything on promoting the marketplace link.. That’s why you are giving them the comission
We at Printland sell at around 10 marketplaces and we don’t promote even one by ourselves.
You should focus on increasing your product line and have a good seller rating(keep buyers happy) and sales will increase automatically
And for more sales you can list on more marketplaces. You can also checkout uniware by Unicommerce to centralize your inventory and fullfilment panel across all marketplaces.

Still if you want to promote..
What you can do is create a web page on your server and redirect that web page to the marketplace link
You can keep changing the redirection destination with time as and when required.
And use that webpage url to promote wherever you want to 🙂
Lemme know if you need any help.

  6. Thanks for the mention 🙂
    Rohit,
At Findyahan we don’t sell products.. It’s a service only marketplace.
But have listed a few tips for you in the comment below 🙂

  7. Hi Rohit,

This is something even i face on a day to day basis. My products also tend to get lost amongst the wide variety available on some marketplaces like amazon and flipkart.

What i have recently begun, is a small experiment of running paid ads on google directing people to my amazon store.

The budget isnt much, about 100 a day. But i get to keep a tab on the clicks to the page and i have noticed sales have been up, although marginally. (It easily covers the 3000/month i am spending on ads till now).

Ofcourse i realise ,that promoting 3 day sales is a different ball game altogether.

Let me also say this, its too early for me to judge if this method is the right way to go. But the start is definitely ok.

I am also planning to try the same ,through facebook ads.

Also, as Snehil has said , offer lots of variety and keep your seller ratings good. Both these things have a huge impact on sales.

    Thanks and regards,

    Karan

  8. Thank you for the knowledge Asha. looking up for the same.

    Thanks.

  9. Hi Karan.

I have also tried paid ads on google. But frankly speaking they are not much of help either.

Maybe because its a 3 day event and not a proper long event on any marketplace or its not a website which is live permanently. I will start with what Asha and Snehil have said.

    Thanks

    Rohit

  10. Hey Rohit, since i just noticed this. I suppose i have a answer for you here

  11. Hi Rohit,

Since on FashionAndYou the products are live on a flash sale only for 3 days, you may have to take a more calculated and planned approach than just sharing the link within the three days it is live. One approach can be to start your marketing efforts well in advance.

Before your products go on the website, you need to create an eagerness amongst your target customers. You can use the following approach to do the same.

    • Promote your product catalogue via Email Newsletters.

Create a descriptive and catchy product catalogue and email it as newsletters to your existing customers or people who have showed interest in your products. The emails you send should have the exact dates and the URL of the flash sale. Aim at sending two product emails spaced by a week. The first email should be at least 15 days before the sale goes live. Send a gentle, yet persuasive reminder a day before and on the day of the sale, with the link to the page. By adopting this method you will give your users ample time to make up their mind and it will nudge them to check out the website.

    • Take advantage of social media to reach out to more audience.

While newsletters are restricted to a particular database, social media can provide you with a larger audience.Start a little early and you can share images of different products or product categories in different posts sent on different days via Facebook, Twitter and Google +.You can share these images on various relevant groups and pages.

    • Use paid ads to promote your link: Paid ads on Facebook can boost the reach of your posts. Similarly, google adwords can help your link pop up when relevant keywords are entered. This increases your chance of attracting genuine and relevant audience to you sale link

Another good way to go about it is by creating a brand image for your product first. This process will take a while but is good long term action plan. Creating a good brand image can be useful because,

    –          If your customers know about your brand, then they are more likely to visit the flash sale that you are trying to promote.

    –          When you create brand awareness, you will get a better sense of your target audience and you can send the select group a more customized catalogue and/or emails.

Some ways for branding can be:

    • Create specific Facebook and Pinterest pages for your ethnic wear products: Creating a permanent Facebook page for your products and create awareness about them. Post attractive images and descriptions about the products and mention any sales or discounts going on.  Even though Pinterest is not as common in India, it is picking up pace. Unlike other social media websites, Pinterest allows you to categorize the products, making it more accessible to you niche audience.

    • Effective PR via Influencers: Send free samples to fashion bloggers who write on ethnic fashion. If they endorse your product, their large number of followers can become your potential customers.

    • Get a stall in a Flea Markets: Another way is showcasing your products at a suitable flea market or similar event. You can get a glimpse of some flea markets in various cities at the List of Flea Markets and Events in India for September 2014. This list is updates every month. You can subscribe to the Zepo blog for regular updates about such events every month. This however may not be the most cost effective option.

    • Start your own blog: If you have knowledge about the latest trends or upcoming news in the fashion industry or you have the aesthetic sense of an artist, make sure you educate your readers about the same. Blog readers can be direct customers and create a good image of your brand in their own community.

    • Create your own website: Setting up your own website along with selling on marketplaces like FashionAndYou may be beneficial. You can market your product through your websites via multiple different options. Ecommerce platforms can help kickstart your site as little as 5 minutes. I am a part of one such platform called Zepo.in. With Zepo, along with website development you will get complete logistic support, payment gateway setup, marketplace integration and multiple marketing solutions by third party apps, all at one place.

The above methods will increase you product awareness and you can engage more customers. More engagement pre sales will simply lead to more purchases during the sale!

I hope the mini essay was helpful :-). Feel free to write back to me if you have any questions or comments.

I wish you all the best.

    Regards,

    Tanya Rao
