How to switch off your (entrepreneur) brain!!!

I started my venture when i was in my third year of engineering (sixth sem) just 2 month back. I distributed my time for both study and my venture to keep balance. But problem is i can completely switch off my studies during my venture time but I’m failing to do opposite. so basically my question is how can i switch off (or dilute) my venture and entrepreneur thoughts during my study time??

  1. We have all been through this 🙂 And soon studies will be replaced by family time, etc. I’d recommend getting done with your studies first and then jumping full time into your business. Juggling things wont do justice to any and it might affect your performance as well.

If you insist on juggling, then decide on the tasks to be wrapped up in both the categories for the day and assign a fixed time to it. If you complete all your business projects in assigned time of 5 hours (don’t assign more time to this, play fair!) then you should focus only on wrapping up study work in the assigned time.

Let me know if this helps. Best wishes.

  2. Thanks for your advice I will definitely try to implement it.

  3. Hey Niraj,

You have indeed asked a very good question!!!!!

I am facing the same problem. EXACTLY THE SAME !

Looking for inputs from more people.

  4. Nice suggestions Sushrut.

  5. Cheers.

  6. Once bitten by the ‘E’ bug, I am happy to tell you that there is no exit!

You may deny it for the rest of your life, but that itch is lifelong for sure.

Thus, I would say dont even try to switch it off (its futile and you will loose lot of energy and hair), instead put Entrepreneurship in hyper mode!

Do apply Entrepreneurship to Engineering Studies as well!

    Think :

What stuff can you ‘outsource’ ?

Who can form a team with you to do it once and all benefit? (can you get dozen people to read it a section each, summarize it and then read it aloud to you so that you can quickly grasp lot of stuff in less time? Who else might be interested in benefiting from this exercise, and help you divide your costs?)

Get a statistics nerd to study past papers and text of subject and get him/her to filter out the highest probable exam questions, experiments and get it sorted according to highest possible mark fetching probability. Some Profs might also be helpful ( #jugaad excuse to tell your profs : your friend is very ill in another college and you have responsibility to help him with online to at least clear the subjects .. etc, you of course can come up with much better reason. 😛 )

Hack the system – find out if you can take up some extra curricular or do anything special, could you be exempt from one or more subjects? Sports?  One of my friend was often exempt from internal exams cuz he was always busy representing college in inter-college hacking competitions.

this is just to get your Entrepreneur brain kick started….  I am sure you will find lot more avenues for #jugaad!

    Happy Entrepreneurship!

  9. Hey Niraj,

this is a problem faced by many & the others have tried to answer this question,

but to find out for yourself why you or why any of us face face this situation i have the right expert in mind

You can pose this question to Prof DAN ARIELY-(https://danariely.com/tag/ask-ariely/), he is the foremost expert on human behaviors &  he will be able to not only give you the why of your question, but also provide the how to resolve this conflict at the fundamental level

I have found that it is critical to grasp things at the level we can consciously make lasting changes & when you have a world renowned expert just a question away why not make the best of it
