Interested in Growing Tomatoes, Anyone?

Hi Rodinhoods,

I am based out of Dubai, and looking for anyone who owns Greenhouses (atleast 10) or knows and can get greenhouse owners to produce tomatoes of a specific variety and export them to Dubai. This is not one time, but a regular requirement. On successful initial transactions, there is a good scope to increase the business substantially. If you are interested, please read further:

Background:

I have been working for a couple of years with a food retail giant in Dubai, and have been trying to network with purchase managers of various retailers. After having many meetings, one trend came up – there is a big shortage of tomatoes in middle east in summer months (May to November). This is a good chance to mitigate the demand and build a good trading business, by importing the tomatoes from India.

These tomatoes have to be of specific variety and quality (mentioned below) and MUST be grown in a greenhouse (You can’t produce them in an open field since in summer, they will get sun-burnt. Also, the production must be done in western states, close to ports, either Maharashtra or Gujarat (Mundra Port) (else the transport cost will be to much to be competitive)

Requirement:

We need from May to November months this year (as a start) – 25 tons (1 container) of tomatoes every week, once a week. Once we have confirmation from your end, and after seeing the sample production, we will commit the above purchase, by entering into an agreement. In turn, we will require supply commitment from your end.

Other details as follows:

Breed: Enza Zadan Halay 344 (These tomatoes are mainly produced in Europe/Turkey and and you will have to first test produce to see if they are suitable for production in your specific area). I will help with sourcing the seeds.

Shelf Life: 20 days minimum

Shipping condition: To be shipped at 7 degree temperature, and 20% ventilation.

Packing: 7 KG thin plastic wrap.

Type of contract: Pls quote CNF quote, will help you with shipping and clearing docs, if needed. Quote in either INR or AED will be fine.

Hi Manthan… we’re pioneers in Greenhouse Farming/Consultation and have more than 10 acres of Climate Controlled Greenhouses in Rajasthan growing Strawberries, Tulips & Exotic Lettuces 365 days a year complimented with coloured capsicums, tomatoes, ginger etc.

If you need to grow a specific crop (Enza Zadan Halay 344 in your case), it has to be cultivated independently in the greenhouse with its own climate, light & nutrition formulations. I don’t think anyone will be able to do so randomly unless an investment is made to grow a particular crop specifically with consistent quality & quantity round the year.

Hi Alok, for this particular variety, it is 80 cents per kg (20000 USD for 1 container of 25 tons).
