Sindrella.in – Pretty Shoes for Women with Pretty Small Feet

I have been a silent Rodinhooder for a while now and have observed people coming out with fantastically amazing ideas and posting /inquiring about the same in this wonderful community of thoughtful and passionate entrepreneurs. Some days ago, while I was going through the TRH newsletter and the achievements that others in the community have made through their startups, I began to think about problem(s) that I could probably solve (Yeah, I have had this entrepreneurial itch for a while but just couldn’t make the jump)

I was reading the newsletter with my feet on the table and thinking about problems when it suddenly came to me.

I love shoes and have a collection of more than 100 shoes which includes stilettos, pumps, wedges, flats, ballerinas etc etc. Now, you may be wondering where is the business idea in being a shoe lover or owning 100 pairs of shoes?

The problem is “I am a woman with SMALL FEET”, so small that I usually end up buying shoes from the kids section which can get embarrassing and annoying at the same time. Of course I have to compromise on style, trends and fashion because in the kids section you can only buy flats and sensible stuff – No Stilettos, Pumps, wedges or other sinful stuff.

It’s not like you can’t buy small sized shoes – They are invariably unavailable when you need it the most, which is why I buy and hoard stuff whenever I can find it (E.g. I bought a pair of heels for my wedding almost a year before the big day and matched my lehenga to go with my shoes – most women do it the other way round 🙂  (This is what I wore on my “Big Day” 🙂 )

Retailers don’t like to stock small sized shoes because the audience is mostly local ‘normal’ sized women and it causes dead stock to pile up.

After discussing with a few folks, I have decided to try and solve this problem via Sindrella.

The aim is to build an online community of women with small pretty feet who love shoes, and provide them with various options of shoes at attractive prices.

Will be great if you could share your thoughts / feedback and share this folks who may have small pretty feet and love shoes 🙂

Thank you for reading – You can also sign up at www.sindrella.in to share your feedback and get notified when we launch.

And thank you Asha & Alok for this awesome community.

Here’s a glimpse of 20 Odd from my collection 🙂

  1. hi gagan,

i love the idea of catering to shoes for small feet (why haven’t you mentioned that in the title?)

it’s a problem for sure (i have very small feet and buy from the kids section many times!!). i don’t know how large the market is. why don’t you start a fb gp/community of women who i) love footwear ii) have small feet. i think that would be a great way to get your insights in place. and initially market!!

ps: whenever i’m in delhi i do my footwear shopping!

    good luck!

ps: i love the name!! very sticky :)))

check my blue crocs vs. my eight year old daughter’s 🙂

  5. hey gagan

best of luck for sinderlla.in . problem you are referring to is very similar in case of garments . just one advice never stock small sizes in big quantities. that can be a issue and instead of just small shoes if you can, start with most sizes. you can think of number of designs but more sizes can help to keep floating as you will have bigger customer base and along with that you can solve the problem of small sizes too..

  6. Hey Sahil,

Thank you wishing luck and sharing your advice. It will be a great help to start. 🙂

  9. Have you approached the big e-com stores to stock you?

    Promote you?

Have you met the big retailers in Mumbai like Metro Shoes etc?

  10. Hi Alok

Unfortunately, I have not approached anyone as of now. But, yes I wish to talk to lifestyle guys to keep Sindrella in their lifestyle stores just like they have kept hush puppies, clarks etc Thank you so much for sharing the idea of reaching out to retailers.
