Laws regarding sale of liquor online

Hi,

i would like to open an online liquor store . Are there any laws regarding sale of liquor online? I do not plan to stock liquor but buy it from the licensed sellers and then deliver it to the customer.

  2. I actually intend to tie-up with the local licensed shops and deliver drinks to the customers . I do not intend to keep a stock of alcohol. Are there any laws regarding this? please help.

  3. Hi Nilesh,

I am writing this with respect to the laws in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. It may vary in the place you reside.I am sharing some information I gathered from a cop.I asked the same question to a friend’s father who is an assistant commissioner with the police.

He said that though not illegal per se,the biggest challenge would be government regulations –  if you are purchasing alcohol beyond a certain quantity then you have to purchase a license from the store and so many such rules to comply with. Then come the local goons / politicians who will look for kick-backs.

And you could be charged with bottle-legging if caught with large amount of liquor during a routine police checkup as the beat constable may not understand what you are doing is legal.

But this is a very interesting idea. But I feel due to governmental regulations, it could be very tough to sustain unless you have political / financial muscle.

    Cheers,

    Aswin

  4. In most of the cities liquor stores are in every 2-3 km range. Why would someone buy online and wait for it to come, pay delivery charges etc. if its so much easily available !

If u plant to sell imported ones or few extotic then it might work… Else it would just encourage teenagers !

  5. Instead u can open a website where prices of liquor are available… & earn through advertisements !

  6. https://thirstynagpur.com/ check this website.

Secondly, as far as i knw. You will not get the payment gateway for the liquor’s and you would be restricted to the particular city limit as carrying such a product would be risky.
