Maintenance packages for eCommerce Website!

We have recently started offering maintenance packages for eCommerce start-up and mid level companies who don’t wish to invest in team & looking to outsource everything.

We would like our fellow start-ups in eCommerce review our packages and answer some of these questions below:

https://www.72interactive.in/packages/ecommerce-maintenance.html

  1. Options you would like us to include.
  2. What is the monthly payment range you looking for these packages.
  3. Do you also want to include technology support? If yes what kind of support.

When it comes to technology support, situation could be dicey since you never know what kind of support that client would require, will it be just bug fixing or will it also include additional features, if additional features, how do you charge maintenance hours.

Any additional support would be really helpful.

  1. Guys Waiting for your valuable feedback & comments!!

  2. Hi Amit,

Kindly consider my lack of knowledge about your business model while reading the below comments.

    1. Are Indian Customers willing to pay $25/hour to $15/hour just for maintenance like uploading of files, changing images etc.

    2. Even for Foreign clients (who probably are not your target audience), these are development rates and not maintenance rates. Maintenance is a low skilled job that even an intern working for Free or Rs. 2000/month stipend can do.

    3. Does the same rate apply for all Ecommerce platforms like Woocommerce, Shopify, Zencart etc.

Honestly speaking, I am a bit skeptical of how much would such costly support engagement work, especially in Indian scenario. But if it really works, you would be doing great. We would be looking forward to hear your experience regarding the success of this offering. It would be a great unlearning and relearning activity.

    All the Best !

  3. Dear Kunal,

We have recently launched these packages and still working on what else should we include. Hence looking for everyone feedback.

Additionally maintenance are not done by freshers, instead carried out by trained professionals. I shall keep you posted. Also look at our eCommerce Packages at just Rs 5000 – https://www.therodinhoods.com/forum/topics/start-an-ecommerce-at-just-rs-5000-00

    Regards,

    Amit

  4. Hi Amit,

I believe bug fixes and functionality changes (not addition) can be included in the package to make it more attractive. It might also justify the hourly rate.

Inputs from fellow Rodinhooders would really help you evolve this offering.

    Thanks.

  5. Hi Amit,

Sorry I totally missed your message.  I have been off social media completely for a while and it is only now I’ve started back on Rodinhoods.  FB remains dark.  🙂

Had a look at the page.

My first question – who is your target audience?

The pricing structure is out of whack for the services you are offering. Most of the tasks can be outsourced to a freelancer site for less than $10/hr.  Or even $5/hr if you go to Vietnam or Phillipines or even in Delhi.  Also in the Indian scenario, they can hire a fairly decent backend guy/gal for about 20k and do all the tasks, even your 70k package.  Do the math, 100 hours for doing site updates at 70k?

The idea is good but the main problem with this is page is that it is not designed for the “hungry crowd“.  Or rather it is designed for the wrong “hungry crowd” – you! 🙂

What you need to do is flip it.  Find out what ecommerce sites want especially the small ones who run on hosted platforms.  There are a lot of maintenance and related tasks that can be commonly pooled across multiple sites.  You have to do some research and find out how you can give them a cost differential that actually adds value.

  6. Thanks Abey. I will look into it and update you. We are not planning to upgrade our website and remove unwanted packages and services that we don’t plan to offer to keep our website very simple and clean.
