My First RODINHOODS Open House in Bangalore

On 25th September 2014 during one of our brainstorming sessions in CXO hangouts Coimbatore, we came up with an idea to create an ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs in Coimbatore city. The thought was well received. That day the idea was conceived and we all started talking about it with enthused vigour.

The five of us – Me, Vasu, Mellwin, Aaru and Aravind envisioned a platform where all entrepreneurs will come together to share knowledge and help each other to grow by sharing their experiences and opinions. Vasu spoke at length about RodinHoods, a platform similar to the one we had envisioned and he strongly recommended us to be a part of the RodinHoods Bangalore open house on 27th September 2014—if missed it, then we would have to wait at least for couple of months to attend a similar event.

We decided to attend it in order to know the intricacies of running a platform akin to RodinHoods. Except Aaru, the four of us planned to start from Coimbatore on the 27th morning. But there was a small hitch in our otherwise brilliant plan—Ms. Jayalalitha’s judgment was planned on the same day so we were uncertain about the political situation. Potential ruckus could follow, but we decided to go ahead with our plan anyway. We collectively decided that whatever happens, we should attend the conference. We met up around 9 pm on 26th September, and started our trip to Bangalore at 10 pm. Deciding this on the spur of the moment gave us a feeling of impending thrill and adventure.

Another friend of ours—Auditya—joined us, as he had a personal appointment in Bangalore. This was the first trip for the five of us together and taking this journey together seemed incredible. We discussed many topics of mutual interest and most of these revolved around the projects we are currently doing. In the course of our conversation, we discovered that all of us had the same thought—we all had the courage in chasing our passion. This rapport created a comfort-zone between us and helped us in developing the trust factor as well.

On reaching Bangalore next day (27th September), we met up with two of our friends—Badri and Narsi—and reached the conference venue well on time. The next few lines would sum up what we felt…

What we saw left us electrified. People from different places had come to attend the conference. There were successful entrepreneurs, start up business people, and even novice just to attend this knowledgeable open house. A gush of warmth swept over me as I saw people were helping others without expecting anything in return. I felt the power of this positive energy and motivation. What I can say for sure is this – that RodinHoods is a great place for start-ups to learn something. We gained an insight into the arena of business. I personally thanked Vasu for suggesting to visit  the RodinHoods conference. I can say with confidence that what I learned from RodinHoods will stay with me for a long time to come.

We also got a chance to meet Mr. Alok Kejriwal. A down-to-earth persona distinguished him from the others. A spontaneous personality and a Sadhguru (real master)—this was the impression he left on us. The meeting with Mr. Alok changed my perspective of the entrepreneurial journey.

After the conference we dispersed, and Arvind and Melvin left to attend to their other appointments.  Vasu and I had an enlightening discussion on improving skills, ideas and entrepreneurship in general during our journey back to coimbatore. We also had an in-depth discussion about creating an ecosystem for Coimbatore, by building a strong RodinHoods Coimbatore chapter.

In simple words, the Bangalore open-house had created a positive impact on me, prompting me to dream bigger and think bigger. More importantly, it gave me very good entrepreneur friends and peers with whom I wish to be associated for the times to come.

Note –  It is almost a month now from the event and i got carried away with my daily priorities…But i don’t want to give a reason for not posting my thoughts regarding my first conference on RodinHoods
