  1. Guys ….Need Suggestion 🙂

  2. Firstly, congratulations on launching your site! I don’t know much about this, but I’ve been looking into something similar as well, and here’s what I figured. It’s very difficult to get the first few followers on any medium. You basically have to get word about your site out there.

For online marketing, a blog is a great way to tell a story. In your case it’s an adventure sports site. There would be some incredible stories there- post once a day about a different adventure. Make sure you get a good writer, with lots of photos, and give a link at the end to that particular activity on your site. If your blog becomes popular, this could be a great way of generating as well as increasing a fan base.

You should consider offline marketing as well- simple things like distributing flyers at places where they sell adventure sports gear, or guest lectures to people taking mountaineering courses, etc. Also consider putting up posters in colleges in your area, because this is the crowd to whom this would seem appealing. Maybe host some sort of event in popular college fests.

Sign up on websites like tripadvisor and tell people about your website and services… Also help to resolve people’s genuine queries on sites like these… it really helps to sort of build some trust with the potential customers.

    Hope I could help!

  3. Hi Yunus,

please check Thrillopilia some thing similar…. this may give you idea…

Find such groups on fb on similar topics. Promote it on linkedin to the influential people. may be HR managers, or sale head who can arrange a group registration.

Frankly speaking, you can really get good amount of visitors through paid ads with faaaar less cost on facebook.. n ya genuine likes too…

    All the best for that!!!

    Cheers!!!

  4. Thanks Neharika

will think upon paid ads…letc see. 🙂

  6. Hi Yunus,

Congrats on your startup! May it scale new heights 🙂
    Some pointers here:
    1) Understanding why people do adventure sports:
As much as we all hate to admit it, adventure sports or even fitness for the Indian masses is more about boasting about it, than actually enjoying the fitness activity. We have all met and known people who start a fitness routine, brag about it endlessly, and ten days later, give up and go back to their normal lives.

    2) Converting this into an opportunity
We need be upset about this wannabe-ism among people. In fact, it opens up a world of opportunities for an enterprise like yours. Look at Aamby Valley advertising Skydiving. It’s not about the surge of adrenaline at that moment, it’s about that photo going up on people’s Facebook profiles. Do everything you can to get your customers’ pics and videos on their social networking profiles, with perhaps a link leading back to your work.

    3) Using SNS to build a fanbase
People end up using their Facebook and other networking sites fanpages only to talk about themselves. What they should be doing is trigger conversations on their pages. For example: share a tip that your fans would love to share with their non-adventure-loving family and friends on their pages and feeds. This popularises your work, and at the same time, provides a social currency and ego-boost to adventure-lovers, who are looking for social currency themselves. One FB page that does this nicely is the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital page.

You can also look at sharing content and creating polls that build a community, like X-BHP and Castrol do on their biking page.

Share also why people should experiment. Inspire people to try doing something they have never done before. Create a path from baby steps to marathons for wannabe adventurers.

    4) Share your experience
As an adventurer, you know a lot of stuff that your audience doesn’t know of. You have had many experiences that perhaps a lot of us have never had and will never have. Talk about it. Tell stories. People love both bravery, and stories.

    5) Inspire other related hobbies
Wildlife and nature photography comes to my mind. Have workshops on these activities. Conduct training programs on mountaineering, swimming, trekking, etc. so that people can train themselves to be part of your next adventure trip. Get them in using related activities, and keep them busy with related activites. Both ways, make more money and get more customers.

    Wish you all the best.

    Regards,
    Nirav
