October – Festivities Month and Sales

Dear Rodinhooders

I am based out of Delhi. My friend has setup his start-up which is organizes events.

They are coming up with their first event The-Reverie – A Lifestyle Merchandise extravaganza. To put up a good show we seek your help and suggestions.

October marks the beginning of festivities and it is supposed to be the best time for business. I wonder what is the experiences of Rodinhooders WRT sales, have you seen your sales peaking up, if yes by how much?

I would also like to know if you have participated in any 1or 2 day exhibitions and how has your experiences been with such Exhibitions. What do you specifically expect in these exhibitions( is it sales or in general branding). Can you provide me costs incurred by you in these exhibitions?

I am specifically looking for experiences of Rodinhooders doing trading or manufacturing. (non-tech and non-services Rodinhooders)

Also please share how to approach prospective exhibitors?

you can connect with me at arjunsarin99@gmail.com

Kind Regards

  1. arjun,

    what do you do?

perhaps if you added that it would help rodinhooders of the same industry connect with you…

  2. Hi Arjun, While I agree with what Asha mentioned, knowing the industry would help.

But, lemme share my experience here. I have seen, participated and managed Fashion / Lifestyle Exhibitions in an around Delhi. So here are my views

    1. Sales : Ofcourse Sales splurge during these times. By what % is dependent upon a lot of things, but you can expect anything between 30% to 100% hike in Sales.

    2. Generally, these kind of exhibitions happen in Malls, where people are already in mood to shop, so pulling out wallets doesn’t become a challenge.

    3. The participants of these exhibitions are generally, small business owners who want some extra sales. Branding doesn’t come into picture, cos most of the times, the malls or hotels etc, don’t allow you to use your own branding.

    4. People have to shell out anything between 10K to 35K for these exhibitions depending upon the location and Sales prespective. What they get in return is 10 x 10 space , chairs , tables, fans ( if it’s outside ) and other general requirements. But, the biggest factor is footfall. If you are unable to pull the crowd to your exhibition, then you can’t expect to get full money from the exhibitor.

    5. In order to approach exhibitors, you will have to figure out other exhibitions happening in or around your area. Generally, it’s a same group of exhibitors who go to every exhibition in an area. In Delhi , there are exhibitions happening in Pacific Mall , Subhash Nagar , DLF Place Mall, Saket , Epicentre Gurgaon , Ambience mall , Gurgaon , Moments mall, Kirti Nagar , and some hotels as well, like Raddison Blu , Dwarka , Courtyard Gurgaon etc

One last and very important thing. It’s not the exhibitors , but the crowd that matters. If you can ensure there will be good foot fall at the event, the exhibitors will come on their own.
