online travelling portal

Greetings to all,

As i want to start an online travelling portal for that purpose i need to know that what type of infrastructure i have to install and how much cost does it cost to me in order to setting up.

What type of legal requirements are needed and how i can integrate with all flight companies IRCTC etc.

  2. Sanchay – infrastucture and cost depends on type of portal you want to start.

    1. You can take White-label of any big companies and then start selling. This is the cheapest options, cost you around 50000/-

    2. You can do XML embedded in your site and then start making agents and sell to customer as well. Cost you around 2 lcas.

    3. You can also attach suppliers and GDS in your system. Cost you around 15-20lcas.

    Cost I am talking about is just for integration but apart from this there are lot of other charges.

    As far IRCTC is concerned, they stopped doing tie-up. Also there will be security deposit needed.

      Let me share with you few suggestions

    1) regarding airlines, you can contact http://www.bird.in  where they can provide you airline ticketing and tracking system. It costs more but contact your nearest Bird Group Branch and get the details

    2) Regarding Bus Tickets, Get in Touch with http://www.redbus.in  www,abhibus.com . These companies will provide you ticketing software that you can integrate with your website

    3) Regarding IRCTC . I don’t know the exact process. May be some one might help you

      So Basically you can start with Airlines, Bus Ticketing which is like, contact them, agreement copy, pay the amount and get the software link 

      6 years back when i contacted bird group they told me it will cost some thing around 5 lakhs, So prices might be increased a lot so get in touch with them

      Coming to office management, you need a person who got experienced with galileo and other airline ticketing and tracking system. this person duty is to make sure that people can buy tickets on your website with out any hassle, if any technical problem arises, this person can book the ticket from his software end and email the ticket details to end customer 

         another person who is good bus ticket booking, offline and online. he takes care of customers bus ticketing issues.  and as usual couple more office people for reception, office boy etc might work out for initial startup life

  4. The best option for a startup is to go for white labels…..they cost less and get you a good deal too. We had got our white label done by travelboutiqueonline.com…..they take care of most of the backend work and all you have to do is SELL.

    Also setting up you own backend does not really make sense for a start up as you would have to put in a lot of money initially to not only build but also take the required licences (IATA) for starting your own thing.

    As for Buses and Hotels, those too can be integrated in your white labels. The only thing that can not be done is IRCTC as they still do not give any private company the power or freedom to sell as per there wish…..the max you can make out of selling a rail ticket is between Rs20 – 50 (due to the competition already in the market)

  10. There are 2 options if you want to tie up with a bigger company :

    1.) Affiliate Programe – Wherin you copy paste a widget of a bigger company (kayak,makemytrip,ixigo) onto your website and the user searches for a flight/hotel on your site but is re-directed onto the bigger company s website to actually make the payment.

    2.) White Label – Both Affiliates and Co-branded solutions are available for free or very low cost by companies however white labels are a little more costly and depends from company to company.

    In a white label solution the entire design of your website is coded by the Bigger company to make the search engine,booking pages, result pages as well as payment gateways  look as a part of your website but the entire backend operations are maintained by the bigger company.

    (this is a good option if you are looking forward to create your own brand)

  12. It would be approximately 1-2 lakhs for a good white label solution……75K for a good payment gateway ( this would play an imp part as you need to get a good rate cuz flight commissions r very low and have very high competition).

    Apart from this you would have website design and development which would completely depends on you…..A lot of companies can give you a free website design too included in your white label.

    I am looking to start a travel portal but not sure which way to go, White Label or API integration. Looking for your advice. To give you a background, I have no prior experience in Travel industry and starting from the scratch.

    I know setting up White Label would be a lot cheaper but I have heard that I cannot make a mobile app for a White Label website and I really doubt that a business like this can be successful without presence on mobile platform.

    Please suggest.
