Paperting: Reinventing Postcard Marketing

Hello Everyone

Well these days email marketing is used by almost every company. There are few problems with email marketing like the targeted customer doesn’t feel special, sometimes the email gets disappeared in spam section and other times I don’t bother to click ‘Promotional’ tab in my Gmail account.

According to Mailchimp stats eCommerce industry has 16.92% open rates & 2.61% Click rates. For any small business owner marketing is always a headache. Its like if you advertise in eCommerce space then you are ‘Screwed’ and if you don’t then you are definitely ‘Screwed’.

I want to introduce Paperting to everyone. Its an Direct Marketing startup via which we are focusing on increasing the efficiency of advertising efforts of any company. Our focus is on following points

1) Making Customer Feel Special

2) Reacquiring Customers (imp!)

3) Offering Exclusive offers for power users (Seriously Exclusive)

4) Converting Trial users into paying customers (Specially for Saas based companies)

So how do we do it ?

We specialize in Postcard & Letters based campaigns. The beauty of postcards & letters are they make the person receiving them feel excited and special. We can customize each and every postcard or a letter we send.

For example if you order 100 postcards then all those can have different designs as per your company.

We manufacture & dispatch these all using in house facilities.

We have done campaigns for 5 companies till now and the results are astonishing. We are getting 94.3% Delivery rate and 50%-60% Conversion rates.

Which companies can be most benefited with our startup ?

1) Ecommerce firms

2) Offline Retail Stores

3) Saas Startups

4) Real Estate companies

and many more.

Please have a look at Paperting

  1. kunal,

paperting is so refreshingly different! i think ecom startups will definitely seek you out.

i think you should add images (just edit the post) of some of the postcards you’ve designed and sent out already. that would give folks an idea of your creativity (seeing is believing!)

also pls add your twitter handle at the end. helps me promote u!

kunal – you must connect with divyanshu at 21 fools – you have synergies for sure. check out his plantable paper.

  4. HI Kunal I really like the overall concept. Over and about Asha’s point I’d love to add Tiered pricing for product/services rendered.

  5. Thanks Sunil

Well surely we will update tiered pricing this week 🙂

  6. Whats the cost to click ratio?

You are focussing on CTRs and Open Rates but what about the cost?

Compare 1000 sends via postcards vs. email?

  7. Hi Alok Sir

Based on the data that we got from our current customers, the CTC is coming out to be Rs. 30 (Email Marketing CTC: Rs.15).

But, postcard should not be considered just a piece of marketing material like an email; it’s like a “Thank You” Gift to the customer. We are not just focusing on impressions, clicks or sales; we are also focusing on branding and CLV (customer lifetime value). Though, CTC for email marketing is better than postcard marketing; but that difference is balanced when it comes to CTA or CPS and then, postcard marketing performs better in branding and CLV, which is the main goal of any marketing campaign.

For example: A postcard can be used in multiple ways, for example, if our aim is branding; we can create a postcard with a motivational quote and send it to the customer. Based on our research, we conclude that a lot of customers prefer to keep such motivation messages with them (calculate the CPM if the postcard is on the desk of the customer, lying in front of her/him for a day). Also, even though we are targeting a single person, but multiple people (family members, colleagues and friends) are getting targeted, hence increasing the impressions (clicks and sales) and creating a positive (motivational) brand. BTW, we started out with Paperting, when we saw that the ROI with postcard marketing is approximately 1.8-2.7 times as compared to other mediums of marketing. 8. hey kunal,

a lot of folks (like me) use pretty cards as bookmarks 🙂

  9. Thats great ^_^

Would love to send you a postcard 🙂

  10. :)))))

  11. Concept is really good and it has a tremendous scope. I have few suggestions

    1. When you are promoting it as a substitute to email marketing your pricing for Both Post Cards & letters is on a really higher side.
    2. Pricing on Home Page is per postcard/letter whereas you are promoting it as a bulk solution.
    3. You may charge one time design/setup fee and quantity wise rates thereafter.
    4. I think you just have to do some changes on pricing in home page itself.
    5. Also refer this company https://www.mosindia.biz/home.aspx
  12. hey kunal,

any new leads/ideas after this post?

  13. Hey!

Hope you are fine! yes got few leads after this post.

Right now we are in pilot mode so we can analyse some key metrics. Will be launching a more advanced version in next 2 months 🙂

  14. hey kunal,

did you read about this?? time to pitch to different kinds of e-players on different occasions. as long as you’re super innovative about it….

    https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/internet/flipkart-sends-half-a-million-snail-mail-postcards-to-users-about-big-billion-day-sale/49282424

  15. Hey Kunal, sounds like a neat idea. Definitely useful for the initial phase of a startup when you do things that don’t scale. Although seeing as Flipkart will be sending half a million postcards, can have many applications.

Went through your website, had a couple of thoughts :

    1. As has been mentioned before I think, the pricing seems a bit on the higher side.

    2. Do you provide designer services? As a startup, I work in a specific domain/industry and would want the image and message to be tailored accordingly. Moreover would want that service to be provided by you…a comprehensive solution.

    3. Another idea could be to add a QR code on the postcard so that the customer can scan and promote on social media and such.

Oh and I really like the name. Has a nice ring to it.

  16. yes I had a look at this and we are already working with some e-players 🙂

It definitely gives a personalised touch

  17. Thanks for the kind words siddhant

    1) In paper products pricing is generally quantity based. So more the quantity, lesser the price.

    2) yes we provide design service and the advantage we can give is that all the postcards can have different variations.

    3) Already Implemented 🙂

    Cheers

  18. Kunal can you get in touch with me farmer@myhomefarm.in or 9866572972

  19. Kunal,

Great Work. Very interesting concept. How is it going?

Really helpful for e-commerce players who haven’t spend half (or one third) of their LTV on acquiring the customer first time through flashy sales, and have the budget to spend more money on re-acquiring the customer.

In my opinion, Startups or ecommerce players with low ATV won’t be a fan of this service due to high pricing and its incompetence in acquiring track-able & substantial new users. Please correct me if I am wrong. Would be glad to explore new channels of customer acquisition or app downloads, to begin with.

  20. Sure i’ll give you a call tomorrow 🙂

  21. Hi Abhishek

Thanks for your comment! its going well, Its going nice plus we are also manufacturing packaging for some companies so combined results are good!

Well its more of an re-acquiring medium by making the customer feel special or by offering him some exclusive deals.

You can connect with me on kunalaster@gmail.com for more creative solutions 🙂

  22. I have got few queries.

1: Is this concept similar to different greeting cards for different occasions and different people.

2: What about the delivery system.what is the delivery period?

3: How much time you require to prepare the order?

4: What about the rates if we do some bulk order(Like 50 to 100 postcards or letters)?

5:Are you providing services in Delhi /NCR?

    Regards

    Alok Sharma.

4: Can these be customised according to the person or event?
