i just need advice of you people out there. I am a start-up related to garments, start to business is motivating , but i don’t have any query related to my ongoing business.
i am very much willing to set up a publishing house in order to promote youth’s writing skills. thinking of starting with a short story concept so that there could be a wider reach to the target.
i know every business have their own complexities of which i have to take care along with existing work , but “publication thing ” is “DIL WALI ” baat. so i need suggestions , should i go forward or not ?

in my humble opionion, NO.
though i don’t know you personally sahil, i believe the “publication thing” is not meant for everyone.
the common questions one would ask you would be:
i) are you a writer yourself or do you have a flair for writing?
ii) you mentioned short stories – how many have you published yourself?
iii) who is your fav short story writer?
iv) name your fav authors and top 5 books
v) how many classics have you read?
vi) how many books do you read in a month?
vii) is anyone at home associated with the literature field (you will need someone to advise you from time to time or at least inspire you since your field of expertise is different)
you see the “publication business” is not the kind where one should merely invest in and hire folks to look after that rest. a founder/co-founder needs to have some sort of academic expertise/background in reading/writing field.

there are lots of sites in the publication space nowadays – i follow quite a few. and ALL of them i follow, are run by writers/journos/media specialists.
to give you an analogy – i’m a total foodie. pretty well travelled and very adventurous with world cuisine. i would love to be a foodpreneur. but i’m not equipped to!!! so i won’t listen to my “dil ki baat” 🙂
