[Showcase] Bollywood Masti – Youtube for Bollywood Movies & Videos

Hello Rodinhooders,

We have launched a new app called Bollywood Masti, which offers a curated list of Bollywood movies & videos like Comedy, Action, Trailers, Gossips, etc. Even today the experience of enjoying your favourite movie is still broken even though there are so many movie streaming apps. Problems are with content discovery and people not being able to make enough of “me-time”.

We have taken a different approach to this problem:

We offer a mix of movies as well short videos spanning Comedy, Action, Dialogs, & gossips. Based on your mood & time you can decide whether to catch a full blockbuster, quickly tickle the funny bone or glance through some awesome bollywood dance moves.

We have a team of Editors who will pick top movies & videos on a daily basis.

Using machine learning we are building automatic video recommendation.

On Friday we launched the first version, where we offer free movies, dialogs, comedy videos, actions & dialogs, latest trailers and music videos. As of now we are sourcing content from Youtube in compliance with their rules & regulations. Do download our app and let us know what you think.

We also understand that an app alone will not solve the content discovery problem. Good video content discovery also needs substance, something which showcases more of our filmy world. So our app is accompanied by a blog where we keep posting latest movie reviews & entertaining bollywood news bytes.

Hi Jitin,

I haven’t yet checked out the app as it is currently only on Android. But one quick question – you offer free movies to customers but how do you make money? Do you own the copyrights of movies or just curate the links available on video sharing sites like youtube, vimeo, etc?

Hi Shridhar,

As of now we are basically curating the video lists and building engagement. Though we have other strategies worked out for monetization, licensing video content and create it into a platform where people can recommend content to others.

When you say, you curate video lists, where are the videos hosted? Youtube?
