Some really SOLID reasons why Microsoft bought Nokia

Featured above : Microsoft and Nokia have “tied the knots”

Some important points that come to my head as to why Microsoft bought Nokia. Add your own (as comments) and I will include the really nice ones in the main copy later:

– The ORIGINAL Nokia ringtone is REALLY nice and the only way to have acquired it for Microsoft phones was by buying the Nokia Company.

– The weather in Finland is similar to the weather in Seattle.

– Elop HAD to be acquired for Microsoft. His non-compete clause in his employment agreement with Nokia prevented him for working for ‘competition’, so Microsoft BOUGHT the competition.

– There was a trillion dollars paid by Microsoft to Nokia to license the Windows platform AND TO NEVER USE ANDROID. Last month, the Microsoft Auditors advised the Microsoft board that the investment be ‘written off’ because of…..

Ballmer DID not agree and asked for creative accounting solutions. He called Rajat Gupta. The advise he got was to buy the investment itself so that it can’t be written off. Essentially creating DARK matter on the balance sheet rather than a Black Hole.

– Nokia by Windows sounds really nice. It has a nice ‘ring’ to it.

– Bill Gates always knew that he had Finnish Forefathers. This deal was to cement that relationship forever

– The multi colors of the Lumia phones EXACTLY match the Microsoft Windows Logo colors – to the last pantone pixel. There was NO way the companies could have ignored that

– Steve Jobs appeared in Ballmer’s dreams last night and REALLY SPOOKED him. Ballmer woke up and just bought Nokia as an antidote to never have that dream again…

tbc…

🙂

Caveat – I hope everyone respects the humor in this 🙂 We are all friends and happily co-exist in the Mobile eco-system. This is just a blogger having fun 🙂

  1. The REAL reason..

  2. I’m jus luvin it !

  3. Well we shouldn’t make so much fun of nokia for opting for windows instead of android . On a serious note, only samsung and indian brands such as micromax, karbonn have seen a real growth in their business 😛 . For the rest , opting for android hasn’t proved to be a very viable solution. Atleast Nokia phones offer something different than the crowd. If Nokia had opted for android , it could have become just another company selling google’s OS . Well why didn’t Nokia go something homegrown like meego or something similar . Well thats a different story .

I know it was a fun post but just wanted to voice my opinion on the topic .

  4. As I stated earlier, Its not just Nokia Phone division + patent licenses that equals to $7.18 billion for Microsoft. Its Nokia Phone Division + Stephen Elop + Patents’ license = $7.18 billion. Stephen Elop is leading the race to Microsoft’s next CEO and is the most fav in online betting market., World’s biggest online gabler opened up the bet last week with 5/1 for Elop and in a week he strengthen its position and odds reached to 2/1… This clearly shows how close Elop is.

Besides, Elop is the only one (as if now) who knows in & out of both the companies and can drive the ‘consortium’.

I like Rajat’s statement “Its better to create Dark matter rather than a Black Hole”

  5. & with lot of Indians at Microsoft office…..ASHA [as in hope]  was badly needed. Nokia came the closet with Nokia Asha phones.

  6. Found a funny one here https://www.facebook.com/FunnyStatusHashtags

  7. Nokia had Asha in it. And everyone wants an ‘Asha’ in the team just like Rodinhoods. Thats why Microsoft bought Nokia.

  8.  – Balllmer wanted to leave MSFT with a bang…he did so in MSFT’s balance sheet!

    – He wanted to have some impact in his last few days/weeks at MSFT, the problem…he doesn’t know the definition of “impact” very well.

    – He wanted some ASHA(hope) for the future of MSFT in the mobile space and bought NOKIA who has it!

  9. NOKia nahin, Yes to MS 🙂

Android on Nokia is now a Distant Dream!!! Now doesn’t NoKia and Crash, sound more similar too ?

Maybe it is the next Windows 7, 8, 9, K factor in NoKia which was required. 😀
