Startup

The lucky call #GoodLuck

So the post is in my drafts since last two weeks, I was contemplating whether to post it or not. Also, this is my first post at rodinhoods.

I was a failed entrepreneur, not once but twice. I am
Neha Malhotra, founder for TinyLove Photography specialising in baby portraits. I started this concept of on-location portraits for babies and expecting parents with a friend few years back. After two years of struggle for establishing the concept we had just started to taste the fruits of success when the partnership failed. I was thrown out of the brand that I had started.

I was all set to leave my dream and get back to a 9-5 job, but something inside forced me to try one more time and this time all by myself. I have always believed that someone can rip us off all the materialistic stuff but not the talent, hard work and destiny. I started working on the new brand, the basic stuff (logo design, website etc) was not difficult as I am from a design background. The most difficult part was getting clients as my previous startup had already established a brand name and it was difficult to enter the space. I still trusted my destiny and kept working on building the foundation for it.

While I was working on branding and the foundation for TinyLove Photography, one morning I got a call, it was a client enquiry but for the previous brand, the man said he was trying the other number but it isn’t available hence he found my number from google (my name and number was still associated with the brand at few online places and media coverages). I told him about entire situation and about the new brand I was working on, and it was just plain luck that he said he would still like to go ahead with the photo session. We did the session on 2nd November, met the family with edited pictures a week after that and I got a huge product order, over and above my service fee which was enough to boot strap the startup. And not just that, from that single client I got references that helped me built my business for next 3-4 months. And even now almost 3 years after that session, I still get enquiries from clients associated to my first client in some or the other way. One lucky phone call eased out my struggle to find the first client and the following ones too 🙂
