Transit Insurance for High Value Goods for E-Commerce India

Hello Fellow Rodinhooders,

I am from the IT industry for 20 years with Cos. like Infosys, Microsoft & HCL. One of the companies I Co-Founded is www.artbugs.in which is India’s window to the world of art; with Sculptures, Paintings & Artistic Home Décor products. Product prices vary from INR 5000 to INR 10 Lacs. We have tied up with Delhivery for Logistics; they used to provide insurance as well but now they don’t.

We are looking for Transit Insurance of our Artist Products like high value paintings/ sculptures for INR 50K to 5 lacs…. If you do know of any Insurance Cos. for the same or if you have contacts there; I would request you to share the contact. Also do you know if Cos. like HDFC Ergo, ICICI Lombard provide Transit Insurance.

  1. You can check with Professional couriers or also BlueDART And DHL they have arrangements for the insurance you are looking you can also negotiate for using their services in comparison with Delhivery

    Do you have VICHARE COURIERS In Delhi ? they also have a very wide network here at least in Mumbai

    What you are looking for is a Third Party Low Risk Insurance, check out few available from ING vyasya, or also for that matter Exide, Sompo Japan, or Our very own General Insurance Company (GIC)

    Check these out a few if it works to your requirement!

    • HDFC Ergo : Yes they do! HDFC ERGO’s Marine Cargo Insurance not only provides the best protection for your cargo, but also understands the importance of swift response and efficient service in handling your claims.

    • ICICI Lombard : Yes they do! This Policy broadly covers the risk of physical loss or damage to the Insured’s goods (machinery, raw materials, finished goods etc.) during transit under a contract of affreightment.

    Many thanks for your detailed reply… will save on my desktop and contact each of Chola, Ergo etc.

    im in Mumbai…. Delhivery as logistics partner is finalized, we will add one more partner like GATI for oversized packages which delhivery does not handle.

    However sine we have expensive goods like paintings and sculptures costing Rs. 5-10 lacs each, we need a complete 100% insurance from the time the product leaves the supplier till it reaches the consumer…
