Travel Cafe Project……! Finally a ray of hope. Looking for your valuable suggestions.

Hi friends

Never thought a post which I wrote more than 2 years back over here (thanks to Asha for motivating me to do the same) would help me to start my dream project, A Travel Cafe for travel lovers. That’s the power of this amazing community. I got a partner who is ready to provide a big space to start a Travel Lounge.

Concept is we want to create a Travel Cafe (A Place like 91springborad.com or Bombay Connect for travel enthusiasts) where folks from the traveler community can come for coffee, read real travel stories, exchange their experiences, post their pictures, enjoy events & meet people from different countries who all love travelling.

We want that any tourist who is coming to Mumbai, must visit our cafe. So it’s a must visit travel place for them else they will miss something in Mumbai.

Now we got a space of 2000 sq ft area in western suburbs. We need you valuable suggestions. What all can we do over there which can help us to follow our passion for travel and at the same time generate revenue to sustain it?

We thought of below options and are looking forward for your suggestions. At the end of the day, we need to justify the value of 2000 sq ft area we are going to use and need revenues to take this project forward.

1. We have 3 cabins which we can provide as a co-working space to Travel Startups.

2. We can do small & big events at our place.

3. We may sell travel souvenirs or travel photography.

4. Various ways of advertisement can be done once we get good traffic.

5. Selling of travel related products like tents, trekking equipment, etc. [Still in dilemma whether is a good idea or not].

6. Promoting Tourism for different states of India & International countries.

Also we are looking for unique ideas which can create buzz about this cafe. May not give revenue but can help to make it viral.

Any small or big suggestions are welcome to make this project a super success as I waited for more than 2.5 years to start the same.

congrats manish! finding a venue like you mentioned is awesome. i will surely list down my ideas over the weekend as travel ventures are close to my heart.

off hand you should have a list of reliable drivers and car rental services. some people prefer to hire cars as opposed to catching a cab.

also it sometimes helps to offer customised itineraries. tie up with travel ventures who are into that.

manish – look out for travel related tweet chats – and get in touch with moderators. your TA is on twitter for sure!!

(i used to participate in a tweet chat for my passion venture indiadecoded – it was organised by india untravelled and it was a great way to interact with like-minded people and get traction)

Great work & its a unique. Try contacting travel bloggers and invite them to your cafe. They will surely write about ur cafe on their blog and you can reach your targeted audience quickly.

Dear Manish

Congratulations for your venture.

Its definitely a great idea.

I think you should highlight travel destinations of each state. Promote The brand “Incredible India”.

As people coming here are usually having information on the main tourist spots. you can research and focus on the regional travel spots that are not yet highlighted yet.

I believe our friends from different states can be very helpful.

you’re talking a lot about “fun” travel .. how about having something for those who travel for work? they can use the space too? and may be help them use their free time to attend corporate events of their interest .. so, if NPC is happening, partner with NASSCOM and get them passes etc. or do anything that helps those travel for work frequently.

Hi Manish

You can start a travel stire along with all your other ideas…so the center point should be….. they will come there to buy stuffs they need for there travel…. along with having other features which will make the brand different from others working in that space

– in the menus, have items that sound ‘startup’ 🙂
