Watch Create a Startup (CAS) – a unique session at TheRodinhoods Open Houses! [Plus Size Lingerie Brand]

A quick backgrounder for the newbies – so while we are a vibrant online community of 7500+ entrepreneurs, we also have free, open-to-all, interactive offline events in Mumbai, Delhi & Bangalore called Open Houses. This gives everyone an opportunity to network with fellow rodinhooders in real life! [in all other cities Meetups are held sans Alok]

But our events are more than just meet & greet ones. The objective is to go home with some LEARNINGS. And realistic takeaways! For aspiring entrepreneurs who think starting up is sexy, the real life case studies give them a reality check! For struggling entrepreneurs or early stage ones, many a time, a lot of fog gets cleared! Many rodinhooders meet co-founders or tech partners or just other like-minded rodinhooders who are able to help them with their biz in some sort of way…

As you know, we have different sessions aimed at solving real life startup issues – Rodinhooders  get the opportunity to present their cases based on a pre-decided theme and everyone tries to give as many solutions/insights/ideas as possible.

In the past we’ve celebrated pain, failure, big ideas, the “there but not there” syndrome, greatest entrepreneurial challenges, no investor love, etc.

This time Alok wanted to do something different.

And that’s how the idea of CAS – Create a Startup was born! (logo courtesy Nishchal Par – muchas gracias Nishchal for always, always being so awesome!]

This is a unique highly interactive session where we attempt to build a startup from scratch live on stage. Instead of using an imaginary idea, we take a Rodinhooder’s idea to build on so that it becomes an ACTUAL CASE STUDY on trhs where an entrepreneur can take ownership of it!

The entrepreneur gets great insights from the interactive session –which focusses on the WHYs and WHY NOTs followed by WHEN & WHO. The audience goes home with one big takeaway – GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A STARTUP!!

Presenting the CAS session of our recent Open House in Mumbai. Here we wanted to create a PLUS SIZE LINGERIE BRAND for Rodinhooders Neha & Rohhan Divanji of fun.sexy.you –  FSY! Kudos to them for being so sporting and forthcoming. A big shoutout to Arpita Ganesh who shared loads of lingerie insights in this session!

Am not giving you the highlights or anything from the session ‘coz I want you to take out 20 mins and watch this – it’s solid content, very entertaining, good fun, has great takeaways and it shows you a slice of our Open Houses! So those of you who weren’t with us in Mumbai that day – this one goes out to you!!

A big shoutout to LOWFUNDWALA for shooting the entire event and editing this. Kashyap was very pro-active in offering to do this pro-bono despite being a final year engineering student. He edited this over many late nights. He promises to do a master vid that gives you a bit of everything after his final exams and submissions next month!! Good luck Kashyap – keep rocking!!

And of course – thank you Nameet for moderating the session and Sushrut for creating the ppt live on stage. As the vid shows – our audience totally rocked….!!!

Here’s to many more such CAS sessions. We are creating a template so this can be replicated in every city. In Delhi last month, we did something similar with Sumit Anand’s Comedy Company….!! After all, making people laugh is a serious business…

Enjoy! And share your feedback on the Plus Size Lingerie idea as well as CAS!

  1. What an awesome session this was! Superb event for startups and entrepreneurs. Crowdsourcing ideation and problem solving is the new sliced bread! And many thanks to Arpita as well, for standing along side a fellow lingerie startup. 🙂

  2. This was an awesome session naa?!

  3. LOL @ response to Alok’s question at 0.55 🙂

  4. Amazing session, arguments and counter arguments. Your questions  to Presenters improved my understanding on 5w specially about why not. It will help me in improving business plans for my MSME customers as a consultant.

    Thank you.
