What made you JUMP into Entrepreneurship?

There is this very emotional tvc I keep stumbling upon while watching TV at night. I don’t change the channel. I watch the whole commercial. I find it very endearing 🙂 I’m sure all of you have seen it by now.  For those of you who haven’t…

Now I SIMPLY LOVE THIS TVC. As a parent, as an ex-advtg professional and as someone who interacts with entrepreneurs all day long. Watch the tvc again. It’s so well made. The characterization, the script, the story, the details… both agency & production teams deserve an award!

Now when I watch Atul’s “never say die” spirit – all I can think of is you 9k Rodinhooders! To me, Atul has the quintessential Rodinhood spirit. Even though he is forced into entrepreneurship – he takes it up in the most awesome way! Which got me thinking, what made you jump into entrepreneurship?

Did you join the family business?

Was it a childhood dream?

A hobby which became a venture?

A passion you pursued?

Were you a school dropout or hated academics?

Happened by accident?

Did your irritating boss put you off a job forever?

Do you have “business in your blood”?

Was it your second career lifeline?

Or anything else??!!

Tell us – in a few lines or in a para or write out your whole story on trhs (and share the link here)– how did you become a startup person? Share your story in words or in a video! The most compelling stories will get featured here of course.  And I guess, some Rh tees can be up for grabs too 🙂

  1. This is great commercial Asha and a lot of the ‘rags to riches’ stories of entrepreneurs worldwide has probably been driven by necessity.

For me, it was a lifestyle choice…something which I had wanted to do for a long time 🙂

  2. Many reasons

    1) To create something
    2) Freedom to work on many things, unlike jobs where you don’t get an opportunity to try out new things

    3) Money

  3. Hi Asha,

Yes I have seen this ad and I stopped my wife from changing the channel. It is lovely. So how do we share our store, should I post it here or somewhere else on TRHS.

    Regards,
    Amit

  4. post it here if it’s short. otherwise feel free to create a post in discussions. and then share the link here in comments.

  5. 1. To build something meaningful that I can be proud of when I look back 30+ years from now

    2. Wanted to be happy with what I’m doing, AND hopefully make money doing it. (If it was just about money I’d have stayed in US and slogged the way I was already doing for another 5-10 years and still gotten there…so for me it’s not about money)

  6. freedom and creativity is something naa?

money is questionable – some people make more moolah in corp jobs naa hemanshu.

i guess that’s where LUCK comes in!!

  7. yeah. i can relate to that abhik.

we made a lifestyle choice by moving to goa 🙂

  8. and you will rishi.

    mark my words….

  9. Very True!

I’ve been thinking over the luck factor a lot. Trying to recollect if anywhere luck played a part…so that I can enter the contest 😛

  10. For me, the only reason is – Do it NOW or NEVER! Life is short and I dont want to regret that I didnt DO it.

So, you can say I jumped because of the call from inner self – akhir kab tak main job karti rahungi ???

  11. Wonderful commercial Asha 🙂  I always think my life is short so I need to live to make this world a better place and to add value to other people’s life.
