Ask For Help

Where and how can I learn web designing online?

Hi,

I want to learn web designing technologies starting with HTML/CSS, JavaScript etc. I want to start from scratch and progress over time. I am currently learning using Udemy videos and Youtube tutorials.

Can anybody tell me some other good resources or website which can help me in my learning process?

Also can someone refer me to someone where I can get to work on live projects so that I get practical knowledge?

Would love to hear from all you guys.

Regards,

Shravan

  1. choose any link and start. w3school or code academy

  2. I agree with Mihir. Just google around!

  3. Hey

Agree with Mihir and Alok in a big way. Google is an entrepreneurs best friend. However i would like to add on some specifics that helped me learn programming by self learning

    1. Start by taking a project. This was the best way of learning the nitty griitties of coding when you dont have a decided  coursework or any teacher. Take a real working project from anybody who would give you one. or start by making your own dummy project.  Download Lynda tutorials if available for your learning or watch some videos on the given subject. Then take a leap of faith and give it a try. And as soon as you start the next thing you notice is you are stuck. Well problems come and comes google to the rescue.

    2. Watch Videos and Visit forums , webpages-  There is tons of material available over the internet which offers tutorials and troubleshooting help. Whenever you are struck at some problem go take help of these forums and tutorials. Start by doing a simple “How to do x, y ,,,,..?”. if it doesnt answers your queries well then try googling “To do x,,y,,” . The trick here is pretending to offer a solution to the problem rather than being the one asking it. More people try answering how not to do a thing rather than the other way round. I read this on reddit a long while ago and maybe its placebo but it has worked everytime since. Most often than not there will be scores of people who would have faced the same problem before you. Life is too short to learn from your mistakes. Learn from others mistakes instead and save your valuable time.

    3.  Talk about whatever you are trying to learn with everyone you deem worthy enough to understand. You’ll be surprised to know that there are some people in your own group or contacts are learning or have already mastered what you are trying to learn. Call it the Secret or whatever you want. You’ll want to do this more once it works for you.

These are no researched facts and mere observations made from my own understanding of how i have followed the entrepreneurial bandwagon so far.

We have a website development firm 3roomies and have some cool and awesome work for anybody who would like to learn and work on live wordpress projects please give drop me a mail at vaibhavmehta@outlook.com. Would love to share more.

  4. Hi shravan, here is what I did. I got dreamweaver first, then learned how to use it via youtube, along the way you will get a pretty good idea about HTML and CSS. In case you would like to see your site live you may open an account with 000webhost or other services and test your website there.

While creating the websites you will hit numerous frustrating snags which may take minutes or days to solve depending on how good are you with google.

Once the website is done, you may want to focus on learning php or  java for forms and other stuff, not to mention you need to decide if you wish to learn html or html5 since the latter is the future.

Lastly, you should also consider if you’d rather work with wordpress themes, that way all you need to do is assemble pages, customize a bit and poof you are done.
