Dear All

Its gives me great pleasure to let you know that a group of us got together and put seventy children from the Dharavi Transit  Camp Municipal  School on Stage for their year end  play. 

Amit and Srini  who are with teach for india, have been their teachers for the past two years  and  trusted us with seventy of their children and we put them on stage for their first ever play. Everyone pooled in.. writers, musicians, directors, choreographers and even people to just paint the costumes, or keep watch over these seventy (noisy at times) rocking kids.

After watching Srini work we really understood the  meaning of overused words like  "dedication" and "passion" .. His work inspired us to realise his dream of putting his kids in a musical  with English as the main challenge.

Today it was a play , tomorrow there could be something else that you would like to contribute.. 

If interested please contact Srini Directly. School is closed till June and Srini will be leaving to set up Teach for India in Chennai, but he will surely be able to guide you. EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW

This is a theatre fest that  opened up the doors of theatre to half of all mumbais's youth and killed a lot of the perceived elitism.

This is not a boring page three fuddy duddy affair.. It involves vibrant urban youth from several cities

They group QTP  has been keeping this festival going for years despite several ups and downs and they need support.

Thespo, an annual youth theatre festival for people under the age of 25 years. It has been in existence since the past 12 years. Thespo was started with an aim to encourage, recognize, and groom the youth theatre work produced & to improve the quality of youth theatre in India. It was initiated in the year 1999 as a one evening One-Act Play Competition at Sophia's Auditorium, and it has grown into a multi-lingual, mega week-long festival that takes place at two venues in Bombay. 

Over the years Thespo has tried to be both a catalyst and a vehicle for young people interested in theatre. People who have the love and talent but not the means. In India unfortunately the 15-25 age bracket is often denied access to extra-curricular activities such as the performing arts. Thespo for the last 12 years has been bridging that gap. Providing young theatre lovers with an outlet for their creative expression. Thespo, through all its activities has tried to be a touchstone for young people – once they have interacted with Thespo, will always keep the Arts as part of their lives.

This  year we celebrate the 13th edition of the festival at Prithvi Theatre, Juhu & at NCPA, Nariman Point from 13th to 18th December, 2011. We are also planning activities for the same between the period of September to December.
