A new and effective way to share contact information

Everyone of us has a smartphone, isn’t it? Even then, the way we exchange contact information is relatively primitive (giving missed calls, etc).

When I shifted our startup from the home-office to a rather more realistic one, it was a time to get new business cards. But then who will take trouble of saving contact from business card to phone? Also, many people (including me!) lose business cards right when they need them.

Hence, we actually decided to put a QR Code on our business card, so that people can just scan it and save the contact information on their phone. That solved the problem.

Temporarily.

I also wanted to share our Facebook page, Twitter Id, etc. It was possible to make a separate QR Code for each of them. I tried putting three different QR Codes on the back of the card and I hated myself more than ever for wasting such a time.

So finally, we built an app for that. With the help of our app, users can create a QR Code which combines the regular traditional contact info like phone, email etc. as well as the social media profiles into one single page. We printed the QR Codes on stickers and pasted them on the back of the business cards.

Now when I meet someone, I give them the card. They can then scan it from their phone at their convenience, and access my contact information or save it. What’s more… I get to know how many people have actually scanned my card. It’s pretty exciting… considering the fact that we, as a startup in infancy, are getting some attention.

We have decided to make the app go public so that everyone can make use of it at no charge i.e. total ly free, forever. I would like to get feedback from you fellow Rodinhooders about how you liked (or hated) this idea.

You can try the application on https://getmytag.com. Bouquets, Tomatoes and Brickbats are welcome.
