Launching a new social app – Bubbel

Dear Rodinhooders!

Presenting you a new social app Bubbel that will help you do what you love doing!

What is Bubbel?

Bubbel is a simple way to find like-minded people around you who share your interests. You can add your interests be it sports, fitness, hangout, indoors and find other people around you who also share the same interest. You can choose distance (within 200 mtr, 500 mtr, 1 km, 2 km, etc) and find people who live in your building, your society, your campus and your area. You can find a gym buddy, a friend to play tennis with, a friend to have a drink with, a group to play cricket over weekend and much more.

What gap is Bubbel trying to address?

Relocation has become an important part of life and we shift to new campuses, new areas and new cities – for studies, for job, for marriage and other life events. If we don’t move, friends around us do. This is more applicable for our TG of folks living in metros between 23-35 yrs of age. It’s never the same people living around you. But you need people whom you can meet often and pursue your interests – sports, drinks and dining, fitness or just chit-chat. If you have friends close around you, you can spend more time on what you love rather than one of you spending time travelling to other’s place or managing mutually convenient time. Time or travel is not an issue for friends living in next building with 280 flats. Bubbel will help its user make such friends. You can find friends, among 2000+ flats in your campus, with whom you can play, eat, chat, laugh and do what you love doing and do it more often!

How is it different from other social app?

Great social apps already exist; we use them and we ofcourse love them!!! But Bubbel is aimed to address specific needs and differs from existing social platform in one way or the other. These differentiators below make Bubbel unique and hopefully useful to its users!

  1. Bubbel is GPS (location) based app that helps users find people within desired distance.
  2. Most of the existing social apps are primarily used for being connected with people we already know or knowing more people through existing network. Bubbel helps you find new friends who are close by.
  3. Bubbel needs its users to essentially add interests to find like-minded people. People not always add their interests in platforms like FB etc. making it difficult to find people just based on interests.
  4. The interests-groups formed on existing platforms are crowded and posts may get missed by relevant users. With Bubbel, users can choose one on one connection with whom they can interact over Bubbel chat and form their own micro community.

The Bubbel intro video below. Looking forward to your views and feedback!

Pls let me know if you would be interested in beta testing this app :). You can download the app at google play store.

  1. hi manish – so i like your logo and the pre-launch explainer video.

why don’t you just share the link (since this a showcase post) instead so beta testers can directly try it out?

i’m still not convinced that it’s different from other social apps (but i’m not your TA :)). [am too old!] but i like the idea that if you’ve re-located yourself and are looking for like-minded folks…..

check reacho out – it might interest you 🙂

also pls go through our showcase section – i vaguely remember some other social app being showcased here. you guys might have synergies!!

    all the best!

  2. Thanks Asha for your help and feedback! Will share the download link soon.

I am sure you will find it different when you use it..

    Thanks again!

    Manish

  3. Interesting! I would love to know people with whom I can go and play badminton or go cycling, running etc. Facebook, probably is an ineffective way of doing it, though I have never tried it. But this is a kind of app which I might install once I know that there are people around me who use this app. Or probably, even if I install it and find that there is no one within 2-3 km of my place using this app, I might uninstall it right away. How are you planning to get this app on everyone’s mobile? Are you going the Zuckerberg way, by offering it to a closed group first and gradually telling others? I am very curious to know this. Please keep us posted here. Thanks.

  4. Glad that you found it interesting Puneet!

We are working on our marketing plan but as you rightly guessed, we will build initial user base by invites to specific set of potential users. Having said that, I accept that it may not be possible to have people initially in every locality for all interests. There are huge number of interests too! I hope that you get your Bubbel though 🙂

    Will keep you posted.

    Thanks!

  5. hey manish,

have you checked out ‘hey neighbour’…?

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.scrollback.neighbo

“Launched in September 2015, Hey Neighbor is a web and mobile app that connects users to their locality. The idea behind the app is to help localities become closed knit communities where people help each other out.”

  6. Hi Manish,

    Sounds interesting. All the best.

I am Vimlesh and the founder of UserExperior. We are part of the rodinhoods community and have been reaching out to fellow rodinhoods for all kinds of assistance as we are also starting up. We have built a platform which will allow you to provide a better customer experience. Our platform will allow you to know how your users are actually using your app and which features they like or don’t like or are they finding it difficult to use your app or not able to find information they are looking for and many other app usability issues.

We would like to know if you would be interested to be one of our first pilot customers as we are launching our platform soon. Let me know your thoughts and we can discuss more.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.

Note: Our website is under construction and will be launched soon along with our platform.

  7. Hi Aasha,

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t check this before. Looks interesting but couldn’t check fully as it doesn’t seem to  have an iOS app. But will surely have a look.

I would also like to share that current Bubbel version is an mvp version that we plan to enhance significantly based on feedback and initial traction. The plan is laid out..we are waiting eagerly for launch and then results eventually 🙂

  8. how do you generate trust factor between two people in your app?

for example, Facebook gives you a timeline of a person, photos, other people commenting for that person, which gives you some understanding of the other person. How are you managing to have one person trust in another?

btw, Facebook also has a feature called “Nearby Friends”.

  9. share the link as fast as you can manish so people can give you feedback.

  10. That’s great Vimlesh! Will surely have a look. Can you pls share more details?

  11. Hi Deeti,

We will be introducing a rating and a recommended flags (with counters) for users on our platform. But that will be available in our next ramped-up version. Currently we are coming up with mvp version to gauge response and feedbacks.

Regarding, FB’s near by Friends – It’s only for friends with whom you are already connected. It just tells you about your FB friends being around if they are (my knowledge may be limited on this) 🙂

  12. will get it done by Friday morning for sure!

  13. Hi Manish,

Thanks for the reply. I am attaching introductory slides about UserExperior. I would be glad to get on to a call with you and explain you more in detail.

Let me know a good time to talk.

    Thanks

    Vimlesh

  14. Hi Manish,

Wanted to check if you got the opportunity to go through the details I shared last week.

We would like to schedule a demo for you and your team sometime this week, if it works for you. Let me know your thoughts and I suggest if we can get over a quick call to discuss about your mobile app and address any queries that you may have.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks

    Vimlesh

  15. Added the google play store link. Will update iOS as well by early next week.

  16. Hi Vimlesh,

    Thanks,

    Manish
