Rodinhood’s Open House Mumbai – Introspection

Let me start off by linking to the excellent roundup of the Rodinhood’s Mumbai Open House by Richa Vani that has put together https://bit.ly/TSmOz4.

It was my first Open house and it was truly a inspirational experience. The highlight of the evening (besides Girisha Hosanagara Nagarajegowda being there) was something that was not written down or a part of the agenda; it was the camaraderie! I didn’t see 5 people go up on stage and present an idea, I saw 5 people getting up from where they were sitting and moving up front so that everyone could see/hear them. They weren’t addressing an audience; they were sharing their ideas, their visions, their dreams and last but not the least, themselves.

Since we were on a schedule and I didn’t get to talk to all of those who shared their ideas, I thought of putting down some pointers that came to my mind.

Interesting idea. Like it was suggested, you could look making this available to corporate for their HR departments. In the meanwhile, I know a company called Triature, based in Mumbai which is working on launching a Christmas project that will be based around wishing. Please get in touch with me and I can connect you to them.

Phonesurance

The idea sounds great. From the feedback on stage I am sure that Vinit Gala must be looking at fine tuning certain policies, especially the ones with regard to Replacing Phone.

What you can also do is check out the company called Squaretrade. [SquareTrade is an extended warranty service provider for consumer electronics and appliances headquartered in San Francisco’s financial district.] They pretty much do what you plan to do, and they are pretty good at it.

Sell2nds.com

Very good idea for large market like India. I am sure you can incorporate the feedback given to you by someone who was present at the Open house who had already done something similar. A year ago we were also doing some preliminary research in this market and I would like to share some basic figures in a presentation with you

We definitely need more of these, way to go Gargi. I had a few ideas for you guys.

  • You could get in touch with Vijay Anand and together we could host the in52hours by The Startup Centre in Mumbai. Vijay is a member of Rodinhoods.
  • You can also get in touch with Pankaj Jain and have Startup weekend at The Playce.
  • Hosting entrepreneurs will exponentially increase your visibility. On a side note, I read about the Quora Meetup that happened at ThePlayce, excellent work!

Personally, I will also be recommending The Playce, to anyone who listens.

P.S: You can also check out this Video where Saeed Amidi, talks about startups and running Plugandplaytechcenter

iPleaders, Appsurfer and Koimoi, you are the inspiration that keeps us going. Thank you for daring to dream and making it happen.

  1. Hey Nameet,

Thanks a lot for sharing the excellent presentation about ‘ReCommerce’. The presentation would be helpful in our future endeavors with respect to sell2nds.com. Abhinav Sarangi, the person from the event who had done something similar, is helping us out with the details. Thank you once again.

    Regards,

    Ankit Sawant

  2. Let me know if you need any other help.

  3. Definitely will let you know. Thank you!

  4. We were also looking at another category for Recommerce. Once your Electronics division is up and running, you can send me a mail. We can discuss the other lucrative category that we had identified for Recommerce in India. 🙂

  5. Sure. We will be optimistically starting by Jan 2013. Will keep in touch and the rodinhoods will be the first to know it. 🙂

  6. Did you miss my presentation? No feedback?

  7. ankit… now that you’ve posted your presentation on dezyna – i think we can request nameet to add his suggestions (if any) on this thread – https://www.therodinhoods.com/forum/topics/dezyna-com-product-discovery-social-referral-platform

  8. Thanks Asha. 🙂

    Hi Ankit,

I didnt miss it. I was there. When I wrote the post, I didnt have any constructive leads to give you.
Give me a couple of days. Will try and figure something and get back to you

  9. Thank You Nameet! I’ll really appreciate it :-).

  10. Hi Nameet,

First of all thanks a lot, for such an excellent lead of Squaretrade.com. I am currently looking into the same and probably it will save me a lot time and energy. Me and Ankit are working together to incorporate this Phonesurance model into sell2nds.com and hopefully will operate soon. We will be in touch and update you about our progress so that later we can discuss other lucrative categories that you had identified for Recommerce in India. 🙂

    Regards,

    Vinit Gala
