Why is YEBHI.COM (whatever that means) selling me BRAS and PANTIES??

This is an ad I saw on the right hand side of my facbook page ( see RED ARROW on the Right Hand Side)

When I clicked on it, I went to:

I am confused:

WHY IS YEBHI.COM selling me Bras and Panties?

– Is it that they DON’T KNOW Facebook allows Ads Targeting?

– Is it that a 43 year old, male, Ceo’s type does buy Bras and Panties?

– Hmmmm – are these supposed to be Home delivered? COD?

– Do I buy these delectables and get them delivered to my office so that my Operator can call me and tell me, “Alok, your Bras and Panties have arrived”?

I am really confused, ‘coz I DO KNOW that Facebook allows you Targeting of Users at many levels; so was ‘eliminating’ MAN so difficult for yebhi.com?

PS – WHAT THE HELL DOES YEBHI.COM MEAN?

If I am thinking using my North Indian head, it means ‘This also’.

Does that explain that yebhi.com is telling me – Buy Bras and Panties also… Yebhi???

  1. That’s Facebook advertisement….:) They call it Social Ad..:)

  2. That’s cause they have 8-9 million dollars given by VCs to burn and achieve ‘growth’ https://goo.gl/h21qG. They are achieving it by showng bra and panty clad women to you and me …

Nobody told them that they can also invest the money in improving their technology / supply chain (possibly they don’t get enough orders to worry about it .. but who cares cause the growth slide shows hockey stick pageviews .. right?)

If nothing else, digital advertising and overall internet usage in India is growing due these e-commerce guys .. so more power to them !!!

  3. How can we be sure that CEOs dont buy bra and panties. May be CEOs are buying b&p for gifting purpose? May be this is their way of attracting people to their webpage?

  4. awesome! now i’m wondering – why didn’t you see their ads on facebook?

  5. I think they missed the target market but then these days you never know who might be interested. Although, I find the name a little stupid and only makes sense for the ‘north Indian”/ ‘hindi knowing’  limited audience.

  6. it’s because of the content that you post in “He says, She says”.

  7. Whatever it is…. you just wasted INR230 of Yebhi.com by clicking on the link…. their customer acquisition costs increased 🙂

  8. LOL, they are doing their bit for the Indian sexual revolution – promoting cross dressing!! :))

  9. Well… may be for the complete absence of Victoria’s Secret here 🙂

  10. I do some work in my Govt Offc….and these Blue-Black Bra irritate me a lot….

  11. Hi Alok,

This seem to be a case of wrong re targeting. For all the people who do not know about re targeting, let me take this opportunity to explain.

Whenever you visit a particular site we marketers would have placed a javascript tag in our website. What this does is it places an anonymous cookie in your browser so we know that you had visited the site before and you keep seeing our ads everywhere you go . This is usually used to persuade buyers into coming back to the website from where they left. This is called ad retargeting or audience re targeting or just re targeting.

Now, you might be wondering how the hell did it show up on Facebook. What Facebook did is, it opened itself to large advertising platforms via it’s Facebook Exchange program. So different advertising networks now have access to the Facebook network because of which marketers have the opportunity of a cross platform advertising.

Now, what might have happened here is you might have visited a page where they would have placed the wrong Java script code ( in your case a lingerie cookie ) or they have ready their analytics wrong. The system would have though that you might be interested in bras and hence they are trying to retarget you via Facebook ads.

I seriously don’t know what yebhi means.

  12. Web Beacons (also known as Web Bugs) and Clear GIFs 🙂

Ok, Ye Bhi is certainly not WOH Bhi now 😉

  13. may be their Social Media Advertisers are just promising them “certain number of hits” and not “sales”! Showing a guy skin of a pretty model is an eye catcher. So men tend to click it. And these FB add pics are mostly products which draw most number of clicks. For example the good looking shoe in the FB add would not be found anywhere inside the website.

  14. Hats off to Yebhi team for a couple of reasons:

    1. First, introduce the element of surprise to differentiate yourself from the customers. Keep your company name Yebhi, so that people try to decode what the meaning of the name is. And by doing that, you are occupying a place in their mind.

    2. Targeting is too mainstream. Instead show advertisements to someone who would point out why the targeting tactics is wrong in the company, and then get free publicity on a site like this.

P.S. I have just heard that the sale of “such items” in yebhi site have increased massively over the past few months.

  15. Why dont they also sell sex toys?

I know the new CEO – Let me ask him?

  16. Hehe, I thought it happened only to me… Honestly, though, one time I did click on one of those ads out of curiosity and now all I get on FB are lingerie ads.

Btw, maybe the ad worked (as in you did click on it). Now, if you wanted to buy some of this lingerie for your wife/gf you wouldn’t even have to leave your seat 😛
