www.mydreamstore.in – Future of Custom Apparel

Hi All,

I am a bootstrapped entrepreneur with earlier venture in custom merchandising – eSparSha. We deliver customized t-shirts for colleges & corporate houses. We are into 3rd year of operations and are running decent. Scaled from 3 people to 30 and reached 2 Lakh customers across the country. We like all entrepreneurs are not an exception and listened to customers more seriously. Be it an “you guys are awesome” or “you guys suck”, we took all the feedback positively. We worked on every aspect and tried addressing their issues. The quest to remove barriers one come across in order to make their idea live, resulted us to build – “My Dream Store“.

Custom merchandise is a common requirement these days, with social communities, hobby clubs, student bodies, fan pages and start up teams wanting to wear their brand identity on the T-Shirts. The traditional model of custom apparel puts some pressure on buyers asking them to determine the no.of pieces to purchase before the order (guessing sizes), collecting payments from individuals or upfront investments & distribution of the products (logistics).

What if, you just had the design and can magically order only the no.of pieces you are willing to sell/distribute – all with no upfront investment ? My Dream Store is a disruptive model that allows you to design and sell custom apparel with zero risk, zero hassles & zero upfront costs.

With crowd funding becoming a phenomenon in India, we tried clubbing it with retail segment and solving the pain points of the customers. In other words, it’s a kick starter model for custom merchandise.

As said it’s in beta and there is lot of scope in the development of the website. We will surely work on it and improvise them.

Do share your feedback about the complete model. Looking forward to hear.

Thanks,

Karthik Venkat

  1. so you are asking for?

Merchants to sell this or access to consumers?

Are you a Zazzle or a Myntra 1.0?

    Cant understand the proposition honestly

    What is Bluegape?

  2. @Alok: I would say this is an enhanced marketplace model. So we are asking Consumers to buy from the variety of merchandise. We are asking groups to come on-board and customize for themselves.

We are not Zazzle but we belong to same category to what Myntra was doing when they launched. We have made customization easier and a zero capital affair. The USP for us lies in the model.

    The model allows:

    1. Students to order merchandise online for whole group without going through the pain of collecting payments and Order sizes.

    2. NGOs to raise funds for their cause without investing their money in the locked up inventory.

    3. Designers to launch their design series without investing a single rupee and without committing any MoQ. Now launching their own design is as easy as three clicks.

Bluegape to me seems like Zazzle as they both are into Fan Merchandise. (I don’t have perfect information about Bluegape. Just commenting to answer your question completely.)

  3. nalin,

quick q – are you part of team mydreamstore.in??

  4. Yes.

  5. @Karthik and @Nalin
