I recently read a new book by R Gopalakrishnan. It is titled “When the Penny Drops: Learning, What’s Not Taught”
. It is a very interesting book in which he shares many of his experiences and his insights of what makes a successful leader. I liked one particular framework he has presented in this book to understand the challenges for leaders. I have tried… Continue

I am an exporter of auto parts since more than a decade.Off recent on my visit to USA and other countries i was surprised to see most of the products from China. That inspired me...and i went off to China. While travelling i saw at most of the houses were installed Solar Geysers. The product really clicked me as it saves electricity and money too and above all we have enough of Solar power.
I look forward for distributors in various cities to sell this product.

Most of you know that we operate from Shimla. A small city by comparison with Silicon cities of India. Its very tough to find experienced or highly skilled people in these beautiful mountains. So we had no option but to build a powerful, aggressive and intense training system which can train freshers (with an aptitude) to be converted into marines.
These days we are training a new team.… Continue

I was watching the Social Network movie with my wife, when she asked me how facebook.com is monetized ? It was a good question for which i had no good answer. She hates facebook btw and calls it an invasion of privacy. Different generation i guess. All my queries to people ended with about 52 million users etc so something must happen.
While i am sure that the guys running it know what they are doing, IMHO social networks cannot be directly monetized. People use it because its there and… Continue

The planet of therodinhoods.com was magical. Pulsating bursts of energy swept the skies. The eastern side of the planet was enveloped in a dual sunrise and sunset. The City of Enterprise had a chilly mountain peak with a snow top and a balmy beach on the seaside that was warming up nicely.
This was… Continue

One sure way of spicing up any get together is to casually mention something about agriculture. Every time i have a drink with a bunch of friends and talk about agriculture the standard dialog is that " If you do something count me in". No one wants to 'do' agriculture but everyone wants to be part of something that is growing other things. Must be some cultural connect to Land that all Indians have. Even those who have been urban for generations (like me).
In light of this… Continue

My ex-boss suggested that i read crossing the chasm by Moore and i did. Fantastic read and every page has you hooked. The book is invaluable for tech startup's wanting to mainstream their products. Strongly recommend that all tech space entrepreneurs take the time to read it many times over.

I think it is possible. Just consider for a moment that all we Indians consumed was beer and newspapers. We would already be spotlessly clean. Beer bottles and old newspapers is not littered just because they have significant value. Now imagine if we could put some significant residual value on all manufactured goods consumed in India, they too would be picked up. Putting a deposit on every item consumed would do the job.
I have done a pilot on these lines in IIMB Campus. It worked as we… Continue
