A monologue in the deep, short-tempered crevices of my mind.
"The alarm didn't ring, of course. Thank Goodness I still woke up in time to rush to work. Must be my efficient body clock. There's 1 point for me and 0 for my smartphone." Getting ready, leaving home. Quickly jotting down my tasks for today and the grocery list on a piece of paper. "Well, technology, perhaps I can do without you."
Rushing to work, and here's a traffic jam. Can't look for alternate routes, and even if I asked around, how would I know which one is clear? "Damn. One point to my phone." Resigning and lying in wait for the cars to move. "As long as the traffic is stuck, I could learn some French on the app? Not today! Write my virtual diary? Un-Unh. Not today.
...The smartphones just dumb you down, they have been saying. These pseudo intellectuals may have been dumb at the outset."
Get to office, have to work - "ACTUALLY WORK today without my phone acting as a welcome disturbance. Can't set up my post-work dates with my girl pals with Whatsapp. No access to Facebook either! Not that I need it, but it'd be good to check my notifs once, I guess. Maybe the anti-smartphone agenda was started by the corporates, what with the Facebook and site blocking softwares..." *Getting suspicious* "Is it a conspiracy? Oh dear, my smartphone starved mind is acting paranoid!"
Out at lunch, had a debate on the origins of Pav Bhaji. "I KNOW its Maharashtrian. Dumb Arun thinks it's a Punjabi delicacy. I couldn't even thrust my Google result in his face! Why did I even take up this phone challenge? It's worthless."
Get back home, head for my workout. Jogged very little today, without the RunKeeper pushing me forward with the next attainable goal. Neither could I do my proper trainer workout with the Nike app! Going for dinner, I let the guy choose where we were going... Head boiling with rage as the day has so far been utterly unproductive - I didn't even catch the news in my free time.
Dinner was fine, Ron clicked the photos which I'll never get to see. Who ever shares photos?
Its night time and my time to read Quora. Holding my huge laptop, I'm cursing you all who think smartphones are a drag! This note can finally be filed as a response to the question:
"What are some dumb things you have done?"
