Hi all , we are developing a mobile application which is an ad tool. Its a incoming call-ad service wherein the customer when receives a incoming call he will also see a visual ad on his mobile screen. in return of the click on the ad customer will bee provided free GPRS service , 200 SMS etc. benefits by the telcos and telcos will be paid by us and we will have the cash flow from the ad agencies and companies. And then correlate that with the demographic data from the telcos and you get highly targeted localized ads that can really work. Imagine triangulating location data and local businesses can advertise on the cell phone. if implemented right very powerful. find a vc tonight!

flat fee is charging a fixed price for a specific period with no restrictions on impressions or clicks
metered is paying per click or per thousand impressions ... what is interesting in your model is that the impression is "real", in the sense, given the size of the screen the user cannot ignore the ad unlike tv where they can get up and walk away or channel surf or the web where we can skip the ad and go straight to the content....so for that momentary space of time you are "really" flashing your advertisement right into his/her attention window and actually engaging (whatever that means!*) where in the other mediums its hit or miss. You also have "real" performance linked metrics on this one too. 200,000 people saw the ad before picking up the call, 50,000 clicked on the offer after the call. With a robust analytics back end data-driven-marketers (okay lets call them darketers shall we) will swoon in orgasmic bliss!! They can now show their boss that advertising really works. And conversely all the bullshit artists will get roasted on hot coals. :D

*engagement is one of those gateway words which will enthusiastically take you to either hell or heaven but thats another story! :)

Hmmm there is also the flat fee option and at least in your initial days thats what will keep your head above water till you build a believer bank and you can shift to metered pricing models.

Cool idea. There are two monetization models. Impression based (CPM) and Cost per Click. Both are viable. Probably you could have a teaser ad before the call and a call to action after the call in exchange for freebies. A little bit along the lines of Pinger's textfree iPhone that I guess could be the next step in evolution.

Hi All, the product that we are trying to develop is that the ad will not come during an incoming call , its just an impression AD, just a print during the call, once the call is over during the call summary you get the ad, eg. your call is over you get Dominoes ad which shows you a discount of 40% discount on some pizza if you click yes you get a code from dominoes and once you show them you get the discount, its just an example ,if you talk in depth we also have databases of the user wherein it shows how many clicks he has made also giving him bonus points like the CITIBANK credit card model....

But you have raised a very fundamental point!! Ads work in parallel with content or after content....not prior to IMPORTANT content.... When I say important, in our games business, pre roll ads work great...but then a game is a game, and u cud skip it click it on say a Justin Bieber concert tickets link....

The alternate is that when your boss is calling, at least you get ads of blood pressure medicines that you just see and not click on?
