BuddyGifting.com: Feedback and suggestions

Hi Rodinhoods,

I wanted to introduce my startup BuddyGifting.com. It is a gifting website where you can do group gifting or individual gifting. Also if you like the products for yourself, you can purchase it from the “Simply Shop” section.

Why BuddyGifting:

We started BuddyGifting to solve the problems related to gifting that we have faced either as a giver or as a receiver. The idea to solve the below listed problems really excited us and we decided to work towards the same.

Problems Faced by the Gift Givers:

  1. Going to the market, hunting & selecting a Gift
  2. The Problem of Budget
  3. In case of gifting in a group: Taking the initiative and collecting money from the group

Problems Faced by the Gift Receivers:

  1. Pile up of Unwanted Gifts
  2. Multiple gifts of the same kind
  3. Exchanging the gifts – if the option is available
  4. Spoils the mood of the occasion.

How does BuddyGifting solve the gifting problems:

For the gift givers:

1. Gift upto 3 gift options to the receiver and the gift receiver finally decides what they want. Invite friends & families through Facebook/ Emails if gifting in a group.

2. Gift in a group – Invited friends can contribute from across the world in the common gift pool.

For the Gift receivers:

1. Redeem gifts from the options selected by your friends, OR

2. Swap the gift and get anything else from the BuddyGifting shop, OR

3. Get a prepaid VISA gift card

So, at Buddygifting.com, we wish to bring in efficiency in online gifting market by turning the “wishlist business” over to meet Indian culture.

While wishlist allows you to get gifts you want, in India we just don’t ‘ask for gifts’. It is just wrong…

The solution that BuddyGifting brings to the user is that the gift giver can now give an option of gifts to the receiver, who can then login and choose whatever they want from the options.

Looking forward to get a lot of feedback from the Rodinhoods. Also hoping to see many of you using the website and spreading the word.

Regards,

Rahul Saraf

  1. Congratulation Rahul for your venture. I found buddygifting as a clutter breaker from ongoing e-commerce business war

I suggest you what if you add certain valuable and useful things like silver items which are also in the price range of products shown in your portfolio.

    Best of luck for future.

  2. Well I guess u know wat i wud have said..:)

    All d best…

  3. Thanks Anil for the suggestion. We are already in talks with vendors for silver gift items and other articles. We are trying to add a lot more products and gift vouchers in coming weeks.

  4. Thanks Pushpendra 🙂

  5. Let me know if I can help you regarding silver article as it is my family business.

  6. Could you email me and we can take it ahead from there?

  7. Hi Rahul

Ruby on Rails isn’t it? Thats gr8. What I found wrong was I signed in using Fb account I selected a friend, choose a gift and I pressed continue button and it asked me to login again. Make sure that its highly user friendly and the flow is minimum.

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for the feedback Dhaval. Absolutely agree on your point and we will work on your feedback.

  9. You should definitely talk with fellow Rodinhooders, who started https://iwishapp.com/.

I tried to select a gift for a friend whose BDay is just coming up.  Her name’s Archana – typed in a-r.  All fine.  No results for a-r-c.

Also, I cannot believe you’re letting me to select friends from Facebook, and THEN you expect me to enter that person’s email ID.

You really really need to review the UI.

  10. Thank you sir for your feedback & suggesting areas of improvement. We are working on ways to improve our UI & UX. Would love to hear more from you if you get a chance to use the website in detail.
