Just got an e mail from Ebay for daily deals..Spotted them selling LUX soap( Pack of 3 for Just Rs 19)
Wondering where India’s E commerce market is heading and especially these group buying website which these days do not offer any value proposition to the customer.
Here is the link

this is done to acquire new customres and create a buzz and to get advertisement.. the company sees the net loss inthe transaction as advertisement costs..
what you shud do as a newbie to the website, just buy one.. thats what they allow per customer… i did one today. i am a seller though on ebay go by the seller id gizmobhai. if u find the name strange it is because i also run a blog by the same name http://www.gizmobhai.com and also trying to be a tourist blogger having seen new places every year on another blog of mine http://www.travelblog360.com …:)

Indian e-commerce is in pathetic state…Every other seller is putting those huge discount coupons. And some of them cancel ur order if they find its deal not worth it. (read indiatimes) (Product is still available on site).
Some of them sell fake (counterfeit) product on site (read indiaplaza). And when you call customercare, they tell you, you will get only these much at given price…
Ebay seems to have decent policies and fast response, they put very strong conditions on seller and their rating system is lot more transparent (Most importantly, they individually identify seller). Other too sell via seller, but never reveal their name…so those fakers sell at different sites and never get caught.
Just wondering what happens when Amazon comes here…How many will perish…(Or FDI policies will also come there 🙂 )

Hi Jigar,
Amazon has already launched, check out http://www.junglee.com. they are listing sites like indiaplaza as well.

Aah…missed the news (They didn’t have discount coupons ? 🙂 )..Aah..and they are doing it hybrid, Sell amazon products and show others seller products too 🙂 good approach. Lets see how they are doing it on ground..(dealing with shipping and sellers)….
And wow, If i see product from Amazon.com…it goes to its global site…pay in dollars…:):) so technically..they have just launched a crawler…Nice..we needed something like tht …(naaptol looked like google advertisements with some products on it :)) And others didn’t have content…
By the way where is google..their crawler does give some results…(with lots of noise)…Looks like as always…thinking…:)

I agree…its getting really very cluttered…everyday new sites to be cropping up with offers and such. God knows how their business model works and how they able to keep themselves profitable.
As for this LUX Soap..I wont be surprise if its a fake one. How difficult it is to package like a real one? Just wondering.
P.S. – Amazon has launched in India as Junglee.com. Its basically a platform for online/offline resellers to sell their styff. Dissapointed that its not the same as Amazon.com. 🙁

Profitable ?? I don’t think any big player like flipkart, letsbuy are yet profitable.
The launch of junglee might be amazon’s strategy to penetrate better in India’s E commerce market by understanding consumers buying trend..

I see…
Even Flipkart is not profitable yet? Considering their revenue I think they are, but I am no eCommerce guru to judge! 🙂
Honestly, didn’t Amazon find a better name than Junglee.com to enter the India!! Lets see how it goes from here.

Junglee was acquired by Amazon in 2000….:-)

there is money to be made. trust me. Look at the model of ebay. whoever sells whatever at whatever price, they make their pound of flesh thru ebay and paisapay charges. they also make money by allowing you to show your items on display. recently increased rates upto 100%. there was a lot of hue and cry from the sellers, but then no one left… i guess everyone was and still making money. may b a bit less..
i also happen to buy products from same stockist as Flipakart buys it. So know exactly what price he is buying it. we happen to be located in same city. now they r flush with VC money, so lightening them up with those silly ads.
i am though a fan of the website having bought lots of books already. E-commerce websites have made lives easier. dont have to burn petrol, go out in sun.. just sit in front of pc, and get items delivvered at home within 3-5 days.. all can be purchased except for urgent items..
so i guess its working here in india. no wonder Amazon is jumping to enter the indian market
