  1. agreed! but sometimes some of your key executives (who are assets for the organisation) try to compromise on organisational rules and we alongwith HR head then really have tough time trying to keep the same environment for everyone……..and with increased competition it become imperative for us to maintain those people with us otherwise it may hamper performance of organisation in long run, then what may be the solution to this? shall we continue with our rules  and say goodbye to them or shall we modify our system and try to bring in something new ?

  2. Hello Nilesh

According to me, Every organisation/company should follow the transperancy and have set of rules and regulations for everyone.I know its easy to just say that but difficult to maintain..especially when it come to company profit..

I would say company should try to strict with its rules in maximum situations and also modified them as per the situation…

Parallely, company should practice the different styles of handling these situations.

  3. Thats very true, you would only face the challenges with the core resources if you are bending rules every now and then for  them.

First the rules and regulation should be published/communicated to every one, rules should have exception based on required that can be documented.

There should not be a situation where one cannot go by the rule and do his/her job, and even if its needs to be broken there has to be a proper reasoning for  the same, that way if anyone asks about it you will always have a good proper reason to give.

This would keep everyone on the same page.

  4. thanks vikrant, what now I can collect from your input is that there should be strict implementation of rules and everybody shall be on same page……..this mean we will have to lay off guys compromising on rules and for that we will have to keep some extra talent handy that may cost more……but then shall one go with this strategy? will this make organisation more efficient?

  5. well said jyoti and that clears my doubts now,I will include these words in my policy manual and tomorrow morning will be displaying it promptly on notice board of my organisation!this has really helped me,thanks again!

@Vikrant: fully agree with you. everyone HAS to be on the same page otherwise it will generate resentment in other team members.

@Nilesh: If some people think they are above rules then obviously they put themselves above the organization. You would be better off without them, no matter how good they might be.

  6. Neelesh,

Absolutely, according to me there has to be strickt implementation.  As jyothi mentioned, you are better off with guys that are not follwing rules, if they dont understand how important is discipline then there is no garuntee that there talent will add anthing  to the orginazation, if they are clinet facing they may bend rules even with them, and this will cost you, additionaly the practice will effect others in the orginazation which in turn will reduce your  overall efficiency.
