Hello everyone,
I’m working with Teach for India- a well known not-for-Profit organization with a mission to improve the quality of education in India. We work as fellows placed in schools across India and run intervention classrooms. What started five years ago with just 1 city and about 50 fellows has now spread across five cities with a team of 700 fellows. This year, our network has reached 209 schools and we are still growing strong.

I am placed in National Public School, a low income school in East Delhi where I teach 33 fantastic kids. I am going to be teaching them for 2 years and I aim to bridge the gap their circumstance imposes on them. However, I understand that the reality of the school is very harsh but I see it as an opportunity to change so many things.
I want my classroom to be a warm and welcoming environment with a library. The walls should reflect colour, joy in the classroom and the achievements of the students. I want the children to think critically and creatively in every situation. I want to push them to be leaders so that they can affect change in their community. In the 2 years I want this vision to spread beyond my own classroom and envelope the entire school.
This is only possible with some support with resources and hence another Teach for India fellow from my school,Abhishek and I are jointly partnering with GiveIndia to raise funds for our classrooms. Every donation is important and I want to urge you to be generous. You can donate to our classrooms through this page securely while qualifying for a 50% deduction on your income tax on the amount donated. Rest assured we will be accountable for every rupee used.
Please go through the page below to see how we intend to use this money over the next 2 years.

Also, please share this with anyone you know who could help and be sure to check out my classroom pictures attached below.

Very nice initiative Mehak. One thing that caught my attention was the peace maker rules and in that rule no 7. Just curious to know what that means?
Mehak Malik
Thanks Sanjay! That just means that students won’t engage in separate/off the topic/individual discussions during a class.
