See what Sameer Guglani, Alok Rodinhood Kejriwal Varun Agarwal, Devita Saraf, Aakrit Vaish, Ankit Tandon and Purab Kohli have to say about Entrepreneurship.
When we were sitting and brainstorming we asked ourselves what do college students care about, what do they want. And we went back two three years and asked ourselves what did we want. All they want and all that we wanted back then is freedom, freedom to do what they love, freedom to create something, freedom to produce music play for a band write a story create an app build a website. And to get validated for the stuff they do.
And most of the students don’t know that if these are the things they are interested in they can actually make a career out of it. Forget about this most of the students don’t know what a startup is.
And there is this dogma about jobs and how one should be doing things the conventional way that focus on marks after studying get a job and then go for masters and so on. Now we are not saying anything is wrong with that.
We as a part of the college entrepreneurship program are here to promote Entrepreneurahip among college students. We are here to let them know that if they have an idea or if they have build something we are here to encourage and guide them. And that you can look up at startups as career options and we have a bunch of startups as a part of our program who would love that you come and work with them.
But the society around us says, no you don’t need freedom you need GPA. We are not here to tell the students not to focus on their academics but we are here to build a ecosystem that if they have an idea and want to reach out to people who will actually embrace that idea they can.
The College Entrepreneurship Program to simply put is a bridge that connects students interested in knowing about startups or student entrepreneurs, to entrepreneurs, CEOs, investors and resolve their queries.
We have tied up with dozens of startups to start with and more will join us after we launch the program, the students as a first step will start sharing their contact details and interests and what kind of help/connections they are looking at, and we will help them get connected with these startups for mentorship/advice/internships/funding etc.
We are told to study hard so that we can get that three four lakh or for bigger institutions eleven twelve lakh job. But where’s the freedom? Freedom to build something. And that they can actually intern with a startup before actually deciding whether they want to work for one instead of a job.
