Hello, I am facing a problem which was least expected by me and hence preventing us from going live. Two of the leading payment gateways have refused to accept our business model (Marketplace). The banks are not approving Marketplace model anymore :(.
I am clueless as to how to proceed from here. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Yes, I guess. But I am not able to understand the line of thought. For ex in a normal E-Com site,
1) user completes a transaction, money gets transferred to Ecom account
2) product is then procured from distributor or manufacturer
3) Product is shipped to customer
4) Fortnightly/Monthly money is transferred to Distributor or manufacturer.
The above is fine for Banks. But if I replace point 2 & 3 with
2*) Product is parked with the seller.
3*) Our logistics partner picks up the product and delivers to customer
this is not approved? It does not make sense. Is it that the PG guys themselves did not understand the model and hence could convey the same to banks?
Nameet Potnis
The reason your model is a problem is because the chance of a Chargeback is very high.
Assume
1.You take the order – Money goes from Customer to PG
2. Product is parked with seller, its possible that the inventory changes, some other problem rises, product cannot be procured. Since you dont have the product with you, how can you guarantee its availability?
The important point is there can be a solution for every problem.
You can speak with people from PayU and PayTM. Their service is excellent and technology is up to date and they are willing to experiment. convince them of your model
When we were starting out, I had made this and sent it to the Payment Gateway and the banks. Simplify their life
If you still need help, give me a call. Lets see how we can crack this. I spent a large part of last year studying the Indian Payment ecosystem to start a gateway of our own, but PayTM swooped in and provided us with an excellent solution! So we are currently with PayTM!

In a standard case generally you would sell what you have in stock…if you are dependant on the manufacturer or distributor i agree with what Nameet says inventory could be an issue. If you dont want to stock and if you are in good terms with distributors pick stocks on returnable basis and start selling. As and how you get your payment pay them.
You cannot change the terms and conditions of PGs.
And they are objecting for right reasons….if customers dont receive goods on time…the chargebacks would be a big pain.
I too had thought of not maintaining stocks at my end and maintaining stock levels with distributors specifically for me and they handling the delivery part once the order is received…but practically its very difficult…

Dear Nameet,
I too faced a similar situation today when EBS rejected my application stating the same issue ( Market Place). Not sure why.. We are an online market place for Freelance Trainers and we connect them to Clients for Training assignments.
We need a PG to collect:
1. Membership fees from Trainers/Clients
2. Success fee % in case of Free members
Can you help me too to suggest a way out..
Best Regards

In my case its the sellers who stock and sell through our site. They maintain the inventory as well.

I understand what you said. I guess I need to copy your image (if you allow) edit and send it again requesting re-review. There are few marketplaces that came online in last couple of months, so I am sure there;s some convincing that needs to be done.
Gourav Das
sorry, but I am unable to figure out how

Dear Pramod
Incase customers are using Restricted Characters of CCAVENUE in Billing address, its redirecting them to MARS ( Merchant Page) which is creating a whole lot of confusion in customer and we are ending up loosing orders.. Need immediate intervention.. Mail to service@ccavenue sent on Friday has had no response…Do call incase you need to connect @ 9902090365
Dear CCAVENUE Team
Find attached an issue I am facing due to character restrictions by CCAVENUE.
This customer reached us and hence we were able to retain the order .. Not sure how many I would have lost
Please note that I would not know which page of CCAVENUE the customer has landed post he Check’s out from my page and if the error is not identified at my site level which should be done by the opencart module of CCAVENUE it would be difficult for us and we will keep losing order

Hi Pramod,
Am also looking for the same: payment gateway for marketplace model. Everytime I send an inquiry to CCAvenue, I get a generic email as a response with a link to fill up details, but in the plans dropdown, there are the plans for normal PG. Need your advice.
Thanks,
Saurabh

Hi, I have been looking for a marketplace payment solution for SellMojo.com 🙂 I have finally found 9nr provided by one of the better gateways in the country. If any if you’ll still need help with the marketplace model for payments, drop me a note on nameet.potnis@sellmojo.com I’ll connect you with them 🙂

Am sure if the search function worked back then as effectively, but we have a lot of Payment Gateway posts which have valuable comments, and have helped many of the RH’s get solutions are per their requirement would suggest you look into them individually and go through some too 🙂
Hope this resolves your issue as well!! Cheers!!

The problem is that with so many upcoming marketplaces, and they not being able to perform well, leading to higher percentage of chargebacks, banks are now reluctant to approve marketplaces.
What I’d suggest is that you go to some site like, zepo or shopify, set up your store, and use their payment gateway. After a few months you can re-apply for the payment gateway showing them your (low) chargeback rates.

Hi Gourav,
I would request you or any other member to help us with similar issue we are facing. we are building a Marketplace where services are sold and we would want to receive money in our accounts and once the service is delivery and approved by buyer we will release funds to the seller.
Which payment gateway can best help us in our case.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Dipesh – This discussion on payment gateway was helpful as I am in the process of tying up with a PG for my site.
Given requirements, search for PayU Money. The money is parked in a nodal account and transferred once the customer gives a go ahead. Hope this one would be helpful. Let me know if it works out 🙂
