Online shopping for fruits and vegetables in Gurgaon – GoOnions

Dear All,

I have started an e commerce venture in Gurgaon www.goonions.com which enables you to shop for fruits and vegetables online which shall be home delivered in a maximum time of 2 hours at your doorstep. The facility provides for instant replacement of any stuff that the customer does not deem right in quality. We are taking extreme care in maintaining quality and hope to capture the e veggie market in NCR region over the next years. Customers shall have choice for  their delivery slots with the minimum time starting from 1 hour and going upto 48 hours in advance

Why Goonions.com:

We have kept the delivery slots for vegetables and fruits as per your choice. You have the option of choosing your slot. In addition the time taken will ideally be 30-60 minutes with 2 hours as the cutoff time beyond which the delivery shall be free.

We are basically replicating the “rehri” concept at home wherein for every order your delivered quantity shall be 20-30% extra wherein you shall have the freedom to choose the best productsthe way you shop from a “Rehri”. Fruits and vegatbles basically being a touch and feel product, needs freedom for choice. we have particularly addressed this concern.

We have an in house delivery team that shall enable shipping on time also.

With this brief introduction I request you all to please go through the website www.goonions.com and kindly give your feedback.

  1. hey raghav,

just shared your post over social – on your fb page – pls correct your business descriptor – it shouldn’t be kitchen/cooking – that’s misleading and you will lose out on biz opportunities.

  2. thanks for the suggestion Asha. Did the changes

  3. are u on twitter? i couldn’t find your handle so used the hashtag.

you must start using twitter – it helped perzen (bawi bride) in getting orders placed!

you could even have a ‘special of the day’ and keep tweeting about it/ and other special offers…

  4. thanks for the suggestion asha

  5. 6. Hi all,

As discussed in my earlier posts, regarding my start up of online shopping of fruits and vegetables, we have launched a new promotional scheme wherein we are providing free petrol to the tune of 30% of invoice value of purchased goods over the site. The scheme is from 6-8 December,2013 in Gurgaon. It would be great if some of our fellow Rodinhooders, based out of Gurgaon can give their feedback and also avail this service. Looking forward for your help and suggestions

  7. Give a montly package scheme for buying vegetables & fruits, getting delivered as per schedule & quantity

Market ur website near IT companies or so… Where people use such technology !

  8. Today only I have bought apples(very good quality, they say imported) @ Rs 150 Kg , at your site its 220.Indian apples cost around Rs. 80 per Kg. So sorry, I see prices at bit higher end. And above that local rehri walas  do offer service to send it at my door step. Please keep in mind and as Alok says, Indian is very price sensitive market . We always know from where to buy cheep stuff 🙂 .

Here in Noida, we have this local markets near to almost every sector on specific days on the week. Near to my society, we have Saturday market where we get fresh vegetables/fruits at an affordable cost. Further we have Safal shops where people get veggis and fruits are affordable cost. Though the quality is not that good.

Might be this model will work where people have to travel quite a distance to main market to get vegetables/fruits. Or they don’t have fruits and vegetables wala in their sector/block or society.

    Hope this helps.

    ~Vikram

  9. Dear Vikram,

Thanks for your feedback and reply. I totally agree with your point that Indian market is a price sensitive market. As of now imported apples in most stores of Gurgaon are selling very much in the range of 200-220 Rs/Kilo. We confirm prices daily all over Gurgaon at major retail stores. It personally monitor the efforts to keep prices very much in sync with market. I appreciate your feedback and suggestion in this regard.Any future suggestions and feedback shall be welcome

  10. Hi Raghav – I recently ordered some fruits and veggies from your site. the good things were the nice and easy user interface. I found it very easy to place the order. The prices were quite reasonable and I think most (if not all) were lower than market. The delivery was on time as promised.

However, most items have minimum order size of 1 kg, which is not desirable. Also, most items were not fresh – they were at least 2-3 days old and considering minimum order size of 1 kg, by the time I will consume all, they will be more than a week old. This for me is a clincher. I doubt you can sustain the business even if your prices are low unless you start providing fresh fruits and veggies.

  11. Hi Raghav,

I live in Gurgaon and I saw your newspaper insert yesterday.

Quite an interesting ad and for a moment, I thought you were explaining how people could save petrol by shopping online…but you were actually giving free petrol.

However, as a consumer, its not really a key hook for me (for various reasons including the fact that I would have to go to a particular petrol pump to get a minuscule amount of petrol…e.g. if i shop of Rs 500, 30% of that is = 2 litres of petrol)

I used to shop from Foodmandi.com before it closed down…you might want to talk to Anita Kashyap and figure out what went wrong with them and probably avoid the same mistakes.

Also, if you could share if the flyers brought about a bump in traffic the next day, that will be great 🙂

    Cheers and all the best

    Abhik

  12. Not always consumer thinks of money saving , buying at fruit merchant is ‘ so real time ‘ experience that they love too. I think places like gurgaon where it has rural farmer connect such ventures may go out of steam in short time.

Fist of all online ventures do have some fixed cost & a constant pressure of making money to soon, which add ups to the final cost.
It’s better to buy off line than getting apples rapped in a bubble pack

  13. I am living in a newly built society in Manesar where there are few shops around. I hated the idea of travelling 8 kms up and down to the nearest market in M1 sector just for veggies. That too in the horrible truck traffic. So i ordered from Goonions. And i was pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh and of very good quality. The prices are at par with market rate. I have not bought any veggies from the market in the last two weeks. There are 35 families right now in our society and at least 4 more people are ordering from Goonions. Ordering takes less than 5 mins and the order is delivered in 2 hrs. Gr8 stuff guys. Work hard and smart and dont go bust please.

  14. hey raghav,

long time no updates from you?

we’d love to know how go onions is faring….

  15. Asha, the venture is doing very well. We are seeing a very good response as of now in Gurgaon. We had a recent promo offer of selling onions @1 Re/ kg for about 5 days which saw us shipping more than 7000 kgs in just under 5 days only in Gurgaon. There are some major challenges in terms of logistics and customer preferences but that is where the real test is. We have overcome some and trying to get over all!

  16. wow! that’s awesome raghav! keep sharing your journey updates & offers with fellow rodinhooders!!
