Suggest me Good Brand Name for Icecream

Hi,

Please read  my posting  –   https://www.therodinhoods.com/forum/topics/do-we-need-a-brand-consultant.

After my posting in this platform regarding my ice cream brand ”Creme Fraiche”( pronounced as cremfresh , its a french word means thick sour cream) , myself and my team has decided to change the brand name of the ice cream to some. sweet, short , easily pronounceable name.

So, dear friends please suggest brand names as much as possible.

Waiting for good response,

Kiran( 09900194077)

Some other names: frozen bits, zingers

You can try http://www.panabee.com to come up with good names

  2. Thanx Soumen. Zingers looks fine.

    Kiran

  3. Polar Bear

    Snowy Pandas

    Lick Me

  4. milky way, iceberg, yeti’s secret, snowy, artic swirl

  5. Ps – Read this

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) inspired me to write this blog. If you haven’t heard CCR, I suggest you do – it’s immortal rock music that will heal your soul.

So, what’s in name? Would you call your band ‘Creedence Clearwater Revival’? Try saying the name fast. Or if I were a food entrepreneur, would I call my restaurant Mc Kejriwal? What on earth does ‘Lays’ chips mean? I don’t care where Altoids came from. Oh my God, my ketchup is called Heinz and my cereal is called Kellogg’s. What do I make of The Oberoi, or The Hyatt? Hell I want a coffee really badly.. Starbucks here I come…hmmm…that’s hardly the appropriate name of a place that would sell coffee! I love Sony…. Please just explain the brand name to me one day.  Honda, Toyota, Samsung, Yahoo, et al, we know today because of their amazing products and services. Not because their name got us to buy them.

Spending time and money on the perfect ‘brand name’ creation is all bunk. Those who pretend that it matters are the false advertising types whose livelihood depends on making people spend money that they don’t need to.

    My belief:

    • Consumers remember brands that perform for them – so be it a great ‘Jet Airways’ flight or a fantastic pizza from ‘Dominos’ – I remember these brands for what they did for me – NOT what they pretended to call themselves.
    • Consumers don’t care about brand base lines and logos. God knows how much money is spent by brand owners getting their logos and base lines ‘perfect’ – it just remains an ego trip for the top bosses.  Try asking Johnny on the street what the seven colors in your logo mean or quiz your business partner about the half sun that appears in your logo… They will stare blankly back at you.
    • You can call your brand and business anything. Family name, city from where you come from, girlfriend’s mother’s name or the hospital in which you were born. If you are good at what you are selling, you will become the next Hertz (car rental service or even Meeru Cabs for that matter)

Put your money where it matters. In making your product or service the best. Your brand and what its stands for. Blah blah will be taken care of by your customers

  6. Thanks for your response Alok . But in my expirience for a consumer/food product like Ice cream it is better to have an easier to remember/pronounceable brand name. Common man will recollect/remember  it easily to tell the product name to others.

Then , ofcourse a good quality product is a must.

  7. Thanks Sanket

  8. How about Iskrem – thats how they pronounce that in Norwegian. 🙂

I would say “KiBo” too as it’s short and you can give nice Tagline to it –  Ki-ran Bo-lantkodi

  9. Noooooooooooo…..Kunal……my present brand name is ”CremeFraiche” – french word ,  which people finding it difficult to pronounce . I am trying to change it because of that .

So something easier to tell recall and as Alok said  ”to viral” it.

  10. See “IsKrem” is pronounced as you pronounce Ice Cream … but yea its not Baskin Robbin’s … Alok also suggests that there is nothing in Name as such… Kingfisher is a name of bird but it’s Beer … HaegenDaz – is so dificult to pronounce but people love it’s ice cream …

It’s your product and it’s presentation that matters … but yea decision is yours i’ll still keep posting if I get more ideas 🙂

  11. How about “Scoops & Cones” ???

  12. Thanks Kunal. Will add your suggested names in my list

  13. Hi Kiran,

Read your post. To my knowledge, some of the top ice cream companies all over the world do not have any names that is related to ice-cream/cold-stuff like Vadilals, Amul, Kwality, Baskin Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s. The name could refer to the founders or the ‘motto’ your company stands off. I am sure you want to serve more than a scoop of ‘frozen-goodness’, so why not name your company after what you stand for?!

    My $0.02.

  14. baraf

thats what we still call in northern india 🙂

    https://dict.hinkhoj.com/words/meaning-of-baraf-in-english.html

  15. Baraf and Barfi both registered with Trade mark regn.

  16. True Sridhar…Thats what i am finding it difficult to finalize

  17. Pay me if you take any one of this and pay me good…

    Kone’d

    Trickle Tops

    Mellows

    MadJik

    North Pole

    Avionde’z

    Bellagium

    Coty Nito’s

    DunJam

    Treats n then

I will add more if needed. Thanks

  18. Cold Treat Ice Cream (simple)

Ice-le-cream Ice Cream (using branding of word ice cream)

    Ice & cream Ice Cream

I would say, use word ice cream in a way that you can build on top of the branding of ice cream..

    All the best 🙂

  19. Actually Haagen-Daaz is specifically named so it seems like a famous foreign brand for the US market. They did not want to sound local, even though they manufacture entirely in the USA.

So yes the name is important for products like ice cream.(Eg Naturals), though quality is paramount.

@Kiran, reading your earlier post, if your price point permits it, you may do well with a International looking packaging (Plastic tubs for larger SKU’s). I think your current name is excellent, and changing it may be a unnecessary expense.

  20. How about ‘gelatio’ with a punchline ‘its controversial, its ice cream’

  21. haha. Love the gelatio one. But not sure if that would fly with kiran. Plus then you would lose out on a huuuuugee audience in children. I really liked scoops and cones, and i wouldn’t be surprised if his was an existing brand. not sure what you will name it, but dont do the whole colour + fruit thing, where you have yellow berry, black berry, blue berry as your brand name…cause fruits are now passe…

but besides that, dont spend too much time on this either, like aloks post said, great brands are built by great products, not great sounding names. we now think all the brands sound cool cause they are so big and famous. think of the really useless sounding brands (not global, but even local…)..and how bad they sound, but their products still fly of the shelves….stuff like Tribhovandas Bhimhi Zaveri…its nowhere as cool sounding as Daimler-Benz, or Baskin Robbins, but it sells. Think of Bhagat Tarachand. So..while you may want a cool sounding name, my suggestion, dont ponder too long, go with something thats easy to spell, pronounce and search online. keep it simple.

  22. SweetSins..

  23. I think for ice creams what really matters is the Cool hip look and same kinda name…Hockey Pockey? really..

Naturals is only simple name…apart from naturals either its KAMATHS,SANJAY (Desi Baniyas) or your hip names..

will request you to check this out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ice_cream_parlor_chains

tell me which of them is simple? none…actually either they have named it according to serving/making style like Dippin Dots and Coldstone or just like that…

I think..Focus more on the product/marketing and go with a simple name which is easy to recall.. ..btw.. FRAICHE is a established Frozen yogurt brand… so try to think something like JUST LOVE IT..or some thing which is more of a common punchline than a traditional name which looks like copy…panda and all suggested by other guys look like on the lines of POLAR BEAR…

    Thanks..n Gudluck…

  24. Thanks . Mellows and DunJam is nice. Mello is in our list already

  25. Thanks Natwar

  26. Nice Name ..Thanx

  27. As Girish suggested since Ice Cream is from Mangalore ”Manglo” is appropriate. It is easy to pronounce ,recall , simple and easy to write also. Thanks Rohan

  28. Nice Vijay

  29. No offense but Manglo sounds like some condom brand 😛

  30. Kiran – When u think of Ice cream… First thing comes to mind is happiness.. If you are founder give name which starts with letter B, K, R which synonym’s to Joy

  31. Ha….Ha…….

  32. “Cool-fi” synonumous to our desi ice cream “kulfi”

  33. Why not de-french your existing name and call it “Cream Fresh”?

  34. Kiran if you change it to CreamFresh, is any one in India has it already? So problem is not with either the product or brand name Bcoz rebranding will create another problem for you becoz it’s time / money consuming so most co. Prefer to kill the brand. And that seems impossible in your case.

Since you say packing is the crux of problem you have to work on it with brand consultancy firm ,design team and test your 2best packing proto with 50,100,200 people kids women youth and adopt the best packing that’s all.

  35. Polar bear ? A hairy animal for food brand ,not from India as brand name? Likely won’t work for sure.

  36.  ”  Mello Ice Dreams ” looks fine to me.Its not regd with Trade Mark authorities also.Easy to say, remember , easy spellings also . Give me suggestions for this.

  37. Friends ,

  43. Hi Everybody,

Thanks for suggestions. After going thro’ all the names ,  ” Dollops ” came up to my mind. It was  a Cadbury brand from 1989-95 , later it was taken over my Lever and killed. Please suggest

    Kiran

  44. kiran – i am sure Dollops has a copyright/TM to it. you might be inviting legal trouble if you use cadbury’s/someone else’s brand name – even if the brand no longer exists in the market.

i think you googled the name and found this article – https://marketingpractice.blogspot.in/2009/06/dollops-rip-1989-1995.html

i would suggest you use a name that you can own.

  45. Hi Asha,

Read that article before . Also checked in the Trade Mark Regn Site . The name DOLLOPS is regd. with Colgate Palmolive ( in Class 30) . I am thinking of  ” CremeFraiche Dollop ” or  ”’ Dollop CremeFraiche ” .For this i  have checked with my Trade Mark Attorneys in B’lore  , and they have okayed the name.

    Suggest.

    Kiran

  46. okay… now i’m confused – wasn’t the whole problem that CremeFraiche was too difficult a brand name to pronounce/remember?? and that customers didn’t relate to it as an ice cream brand??

kiran – if you are going for a re-branding exercise, my humble suggestion would be to learn from the past issues and KEEP IT SIMPLE.

find an easy-to-remember name. if you are mind-bent upon using Dollops – pls write to CP and seek permission instead of going through another re-branding exercise when someone objects.

these are big giants kiran. they have lots of money to spend on legal nonsense. you don’t.

play safe. there are lots of great brand names here kindly suggested by our rodinhooders.

  47. How about ” LORI”  –  Easy to pronounce , easy to tell easy to remember , viral.

My daughters are Lakshmi and Gowri – put together  ”Lori” . In english it means

The Most wonderful person in the World. Kind, Sweet, Loving, Caring, Gentle. Perfect in Every ways. The one you love for all your life.

You are my Lori, My Angel

And in hindi  it means lullaby . Nice na?

    Please suggest

    Kiran.
  48. dear kiran,

i really appreciate the sentimental value behind the name lori.

but honestly – i don’t think it’s suited for an ice cream product.

  49. How about

Manchi’s ( My daughters pet name)

    Mello , Mellow or Mellos

    Kiran.

  50. I always wanted Hajmola ice cream 😛 . Sorry if I spammed your post but couldn’t resist commenting.

  51. Jokes apart Kiran, Dollops will be such dal choice, the brand did not click in India

    How about ‘Scoop’

  52. Hi Ashwin,

    Its already there in Hyderabad

    Kiran

  53. Hey Vikranth,

Good Idea yaar . Vanilla Icecream with crushed hajmola candies…..wow.

    Thanx Vikranth

    Kiran

  54. There was a thickshake outlet in UK called Eskimos and they had a logo of a cool cow. I liked their name so grab it if you want to.

  55. Sorry Kiran but I really couldn’t resist myself. I always had this fantasy of trying Hajmola ice cream. Sincere apologies for spamming.

  56. Thanx Nidhi….Its sooo Cool

    Kiran

  57. Hi Friends,

Finalising towards  ” MELLOS” with punchline ”Melt your Heart”

    Kiran

  58. Hi Kiran,

Think about ‘Freshya’ as an option.

You could expand the brand to communicate freshly made ice cream with natural ingredients.

Drop me a line at abhik@experiamedia.com if you would like to discuss more. We could help you with design and branding too.

    Cheers

  59. Hello Abhik,

” Freshya” is good and also its not registered with Trade Mark. But we are not of that concept.

      Thanx for suggestion

    Kiran

  60. Hi Rahul,

Is that HIM means ”Snow” cream ?

    Kiran

  61. Hi Friends,

    Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

How about    ”MELLOS”     ”MELTOS ”    OR    MELTY

    Kiran

  62. Cream Kiran

  63. So many suggestions. I would like to know whether you have decided the name? Let us know what name you have chosen for your brand. I am so curious to know after reading all the comments. 😛

  64. Hi Sachin,

    These are the names

    manchi’s happytimes chill milka slice
ma moo’s b farms great trix jolly penguin
mello b dairy smiley dreamery friz
bells ma dairy thrifty dreamers frigid
    redbell lucky delux frendly’s pure

    cremefresh mello nice cream
    happykid cool-fi
    rejoice kool-fi
    rapture
    radiance
    xtacy

Along with these i am thinking of unfrenching the previous name of ”cremefraiche” to ”cremfresh” or ”cremefresh”

    suggest

    Kiran.

  65. Or  ” KremeKiran”………!!!!!!

  66. Hello

how about this brandname ?….suggest plz.

  67. desert storm

  68. Dear Rodinhooders,

    At last……..

    Thanks for responces

    Kiran

  69. Dear Akhil,

Finally as you suggested we just de-frenched it. We finalised it as ”CremeFresh” ,same font but Red background.

    See……….Thanx Akhil

  70. Finally you have chose a good name but the the logo doesnt look that great. Add some more creativity into this.

  71. MyCream..!!

    Its Mine..uumm…!!

  72. Logo seams industrial, dull and boring ,will it enhance the product image/ perception ?

Such logos are found on small ice scream selling carts which serve cheap ice scream candy manufactured remotely generally named as chetana ,vijay, joy etcn( just eg no offence to them)

Show 10 options to kids, common people ,strangers relatives etc and finalise.

You win more than half the battle with great packaging and logo that are always developed by professional brand identity firms n studios, lots of thinking is put behind it.

  73. Hi,

Guess I am not very late in responding. What crossed my mind is “POLES’. Howsoever you would wish to create a twist of the words and the design around the words. Each of the alphabet can be played with to collectively evolve into a potential universal brand and eye catching logo. Easy on the tongue, easy to remember and hence likely to keep marketing costs down, represents and signifies in combination, both the extreme poles of the globe and the freezing climate, the most exotic, rare and desirous terrain to visit but equally challenging. Signifies freezing purity, beauty, freshness, cleanliness, hygiene, exoticness and so on. The perfect word for creating a brand story. Good Luck.

  74. Hi Sachin,

Sorry i am responding to you late. I was away from ”Rodinhooders” for a while. The final Logo is little different from the ones shown above. My first brand name and logo ”CremeFraiche” , i believe is creative. But with i failed connect with mass customers. They did not understand the word, meaning and, pronounciation and also the spellings. For upmarket BakeryCafe it was okay, But for mass market Ice cream …it was …little….

So, After 3 years of launching my ice cream i cannot change its name .As someone suggested i just de-frenched it and made it ”CremeFresh” with same red background and normal capital fonts. Just like Kwality Walls ”Swirl” …..Red, Bold in Capital Letters.

Thanks Sachin for your valuable suggestions

    Kiran

    Thanks Ashwin,

    Kiran

  76. Very good name Anil. I would have used it , if i have not finalised the name

    Thanks,

    Kiran

  77. Final,Final Brnad Name & Logo, Applied for Trade Mark Regn. We are using ”TM” now.
    Thanks for all .
