There but Not There : My first experience presenting at Rodinhoods OH

 

Anxiety, Confusion, Insecurity – if there is any place where I can use these words without being afraid of being judged as weak or in any negative way, it is this forum. The Rodinhoods. 

As someone who has bootstrapped the company – Every-time I would see news of millions of dollars being raised by fellow entrepreneurs, I would invariably start asking myself.  

Am I doing the right thing , Should I look to raise capital ? 

And at times the painful slow pace at which things move – I would get these thoughts – maybe I should raise capital to grow BIG and realise the potential of the opportunity. 

Growth of Tekno Point has been awesome as far as my personal goals can go , but While all the large training companies have grown huge catering to the student segment , we are still unable to scale our operations to multiple locations as we are focusing on working professionals – helping them go from point A to point B in their Career. How do we scale  ? 

Organisation’s have amazing sales teams , sales processes and we are stuck with mindset where customers have come to us , 13 years and yet to build a sales team. So should we build the sales team or increase even more the focus on things which makes customers come to us. It worked at a certain level but the ‘growth’ demon , will its hunger get satisfied continuing our old ways….Going International , Although we have catered to international  requirements and have serviced clients from multiple countries. It is something that has happened on its own and we do not have sales team or a network in international markets. How do we seek international clients  ?

Well the list of questions are far too many. 

Most of my questions got answered in the first 45 mins of the event itself when Alok engaged Sumant in an amazing conversation which covered brilliantly things I could relate to. 

Right from ‘Stop reading Techcrunch’ example , Focus on what you have to do , the Possible negative side of taking VC funding , VC’s look for particular type of business to invest in , if you understand how culture is changing  and to be present and aware.  Affirmations of my belief system. 

Then there were presentations from fellow Rodinhooder’s at different stages of their venture each facing a different challenge. Just to come up on stage and say in front of the world that this is where we are and these are the challenges is itself huge. I know that first hand 🙂 

And of-course got to meet fellow rodinhooder’s. Felt blessed with all the positive energy. 

I had 5 minutes to present – Not sure If I was able to convey what I wanted to. 

So want to use this post to extend my thoughts and get feedback from the community.
