(Version 2.0.1 launched!)

Hello Rodinhoods,

My team is very excited to announce that ‘Thought’ has been awarded Mobile of the Day (MOTD) by the FWA. Here is the link to the official award webpage

Less than a month ago, I posted here about the launch of our app. You have been most kind to provide your honest feedback. It enabled us to improve our product in many ways. And we are just warming up.

If you haven’t tried the new version of ‘Thought’ on your android device, here is the Google Play Download Link.

In addition to the innovative caller screen, ‘Thought’ has added some new features like inbuilt call log, improved navigation, smoother experience and expanded device support.

I sincerely thank Rodinhoods for the support and encouragement. ‘Thought’ has been received well by its users. And for those, who are still not impressed, wait for our feature-packed future versions.

So what is ‘Thought’ all about? Here goes.

[ Original Post on 02-07-2015 ]

When answering an incoming call in an inconvenient situation, have you ever caught yourself saying “Call you back in 15 minutes” or “Driving, can I call you later?”

If yes, a new android app called “Thought” (search for ThoughtDroid in play store) can make your life a lot easier. You don’t have to pick up that call if you are busy in a meeting, driving your car or watching your favourite movie.

In addition to the regular pick-up and hang-up options, ‘Thought’ lets you choose from three other options.

Just select the appropriate option from ‘Thought”s caller screen. The call will be disconnected, but at the same time, the caller will be sent a message. Whether or not the caller is a user, ‘Thought’ will deliver your message to the caller.

“But I already have such a facility on my android phone”. Weren’t you about to say that? So what’s different in ‘Thought’?

Firstly, all messages sent through ‘Thought’ are absolutely free. If the caller is a user, the message will be sent and delivered using an in-app messaging system. If the caller is not a user, an SMS will be sent to him/her.

You will clearly feel the difference in experience if you use ‘Thought’ while, say, driving a vehicle. It requires a single swiping gesture to achieve the goal, unlike default mechanism in most android phones.

After sending the message, ‘Thought’ automatically sets a reminder to call that person back. If you messaged somebody, “Call you back in 30 minutes”, ‘Thought’ will remind you to call him back after 30 minutes. And the reminders are displayed as neat slider stacks at the bottom of your screen. No notification symbols on the top edge.

‘Thought’ works on 2G, 3G, 4G and Wifi. There are a couple of themes available in the app to paint the caller screen according to your taste. In some Xiaomi devices, few permissions need to be manually set in order to make the app function properly. And the app is as lean as less than 3 MB to download from Google Play Store.

Take it for a spin, experience it for yourself!

  1. jigar – i think this is a neat idea.

quick suggestion – you need a descriptor line.

if you were to describe thought in a single line – what would you say?

  2. Hello Asha,

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Thought – Talk, without talking.

This is what we use on our app.

  3. then pls add it on the post.

    🙂

  4. Jigar, I have an HTC Desire 820 and it has the same features built in. 🙂

  5. Edited. Thank you Asha 🙂

  6. Hello Yuvraj,

Most android phones have the facility to disconnect calls with SMS. Here’s what different in ‘Thought’.

    1. All messages are free, whether sent as ‘in app messages’ or ‘sms’.The caller need not be a user to receive the message.

    2. You get a smart reminder to call your caller back.

    3. It works with a single action unlike default functionality.

Try responding with your default application while you are on a bike and try doing it with ‘Thought’. Probably you’ll find out the difference 🙂

And of course, this is not the end, this is just the beginning. We have a lot more coming in updates 🙂

  7. jigar – a lot of folks are gonna ask this question. i suggest you also add this part to your post. it shows how the app is different from the sms feature a phone offers.

  8. I added the clarification. Thank you once again 🙂

  9. Hi Jigar

I used your app for 1 day and then uninstall for 2 reasons. Truecaller was not working on it and secondly while clicking green button for picking up the call, it is taking bit time to sync with phone.

    My honest feedback.

    Regards

    Manish

  10. Hello Manish,

I really appreciate you taking time to provide your feedback. It will help us improve our product. Thank you.

    best regards,

    Jigar.

  11. Hello Manish,

Can you please try to update the Truecaller app in your phone? After doing that, Thought will not pose the issue that you faced. I request you to please give it a shot.

    Thank you.

    best,

    Jigar.

  12. Hey – cool man

  13. After nearly 1000 downloads and couple hundred feedback, Thought is being shaped into a much better version. Stay tuned 🙂

  16. Jigar,

You need a new one liner. Current one is too interesting, but disappointing when you see the product. It made me think of some cool gadget hat/band type device which can read nueron activity in my brain and send it to other person wearing the band, so we could be talking using our thoughts. Yes, I think of wierd stuff. You should use something like “Incoming call disconnect messges”

I understand what is the problem you are trying to solve, but the use-case seems to trivial.

    So my questions:
    1. What is the main pain point that you are trying to solve?
(In my opinion, not many people use this feature, and your app would only be attractive to people who use this and want more. Feel free to throw in some numbers to correct my opinion)

    2. Would love to know how you plan to monetize it?

It seems like a hobby project of 2 friends, rather than a startup.

If you still want to do it, you are crazy. And if you are doing it.
    – Try to integrate it with call enabled apps: WhatsApp, Skype, Viber etc
    – Talk to at least 500 people (non-friends) who use that in-built feature and find 50 people who are not satisfied with it. Get them to download and built it from there.

    All the best

  17. nice idea
