Asha shared a link to this picture on Fb, and for a moment, I thought, wow, that’s so true.
Then it sunk in and I was like, Bullshit – that’s romanticizing it a bit too much.
While some of you may agree with it, I for one don’t.
Will be great to have your thoughts on Who or What is an Entrepreneur? (Just go ahead and describe, what to you, is an entrepreneur!)
And also mention if you agree with the poster or not 🙂

okay, okay…. so it’s a hyperbole!!
still love the idea!
an entrepreneur, in simple words is a problem solver.
she sees a hole in the road and wants to fill it up.
if she can’t do it with her bare hands she will find something that can. or do some jugaad. she will do whatever it takes to ensure that hole is covered and no one falls into it.
we all are problem solvers. we like to add value to people’s lives. even if it involves some risk…

Abhik, Thanks a lot !
I had written an article a month back but did not feel like publishing it. Great that you raised the topic and used the keyword “romanticizing”. You made me publish it today. My thoughts are here as a separate article.
I entirely agree to your point. Looking forward to your input on my definition of ‘Entrepreneur’.
Thanks again.

From last week I have a word doc open always on my laptop documenting those small-big instances that comes across in a “life of an entrepreneur” which are sometimes too serious and sometimes too hilarious. Here is a week long effort:
Ranjeet Pratap Singh
I think we often generalize too much, much like other people entrepreneurs come in various sizes and shapes(literally as well as figuratively) too.
Long back an Army officer taking my interview told me, do not do anything without proper preparation, even when you go to take a bath, make sure that towel, under-garments, toiletries etc are in order. And yet, just three days later he met me outside and casually commented that nothing that matters in life can be planned and went about telling me of his leaving studies midway to join Army, getting married and life at the border.
The point that I am trying to make is while some entrepreneurs strongly believe in doing proper market research, arranging for the ‘six months corpus’, building a team, validating the idea etc before diving in, some other take a plunge and learn everything that they need to while building their start-up(s).
And I don’t think either of the approaches is right or wrong, rather it depends on what works best for you.

Abhik/Asha, You made me think:) ….I think what you described in the image is “Arvind Kejriwal” 🙂 …if he can’t build the plane on his way down, he will blame the HEIGHTS and the CLIFF….and will hit the ground with 9.8 m/s/s 🙂 ..the moment he lands, he will start a DHARNA 🙂
Entrepreneur is someone, who will build a plane for the first time, take baby steps, jump from a low level cliff that would not kill him, but would let him experiment with acceptable damages..and allow him to learn. He will take the test flight….get bruises, scars, but he will continue to.do the endurance, compression, design testing etc. will come back…improve the design….go to higher cliffs…re-invent…improvise again….
Once he validates the robustness of the plane, he will take the next Jump from KANCHANJUNGA 🙂 ….
Who is not an entrepreneur? Someone who will just watch…watch and wait for the stability. Once the stability is established, he will approach the entrepreneur, and will offer to “Work continuously under the risk free roof”. When the flight becomes absolutely risk free, and jumping becomes a repetitive activity, and a linear equation, that is exactly when an entrepreneur will depart respectfully. There is no skin in the game. There is no game anymore.

Divyesh – you comment calls for a separate post… it’s really good!

Anamika – I keep on adding frequently on to the list as and when if not on daily basis.
Well I guess there many more interesting posts by awesome people on thrs detailing about life of an entrepreneur in their own creative way, so didn’t add up as a separate post to avoid monotony!
Thanks! 🙂
