Just a thought!!
We all keep on traveling to different cities for events, meetings or some other work and most of the times we stay in a hotel where we utilize most of our time in watching tv, sleeping or on our laptop.
What if we can create a micro-site or a page on therodinhoods.wpengine.com itself where people can simply post that, “Hey, I am in to this business and am traveling to Bangalore. Anyone would like to host me at their place?”
And even if you don’t want to stay at someone else place, you can simply make a post that you are in this particular city and you will be happy to catch up with fellow entrepreneurs over a cup of coffee.
Would love to have your views on the same.

hi anuj,
i love this idea. very often i spend a lot of quality time with rodinhooders who have become close friends. in fact in mumbai a rodinhooder couple would always insist i stay with them (right after the OH!) instead of catching the late night flight back to goa. when i told alok he was amazed and he actually said that who knows, i could even be growing an airbnb on trh someday!!
i think it’s a brilliant idea and i’m cool if it’s a part of trh – as long as
a) therodinhoods is not liable for anything
b) it doesn’t create more work for me (i don’t have a team, remember?!)
the last thing i want to entertain is xyz cheated abc complaints. or people pinging me to ask if fgh rodinhooder is a reliable person to stay with or not!!!
just being really candid anuj 🙂
but if someone can take ownership of the idea, it’s a great one!!!

Hi Asha,
Thanks for putting up your views.
I have hosted many people at my place in last 3-4 years so I know the value coming out of it.
As far as the risk is concern, people can see if they have some mutual friends on FB, Linkedin or they can just take the decision after going thru the profile of the person. I guess BLABLACAR is the most perfect example for this kind of situation.
As far as the liability of TRH is concerned, so we can clearly mention that we are not responsible for anything, we are just helping in connecting the dots. We can also draft a list of tips which can be useful for a person willing to host someone.
Atleast we can start with the idea of catching up over a cup of coffee if not stay to begin with and it won’t create much work for u as it must be a self driven process. If needed, I am all up to provide any kind of support.
Lets pitch it to other people of the community as well so as to know their feedback on the same.

you know, a lot of rodinhooders also ping me that they are travelling to another city and which rodinhooders should they be catching up with 🙂
i request them to put up their request on our fb and share it further. i usually tag other rodinhooders, especially with synergies 🙂
and as a rule, when i travel I ALWAYS MEET UP WITH MY RODINHOODERS!!! even on a holiday (pondicherry), especially when they come to goa for a holiday – we meet over crabs/coffee/sausage pao/burgers/mojitos you name it!!
so the coffee with rodinhooder idea should work for sure!

Hey Anuj, good idea and I am up for catch up over a cup of coffee 🙂

Tarun
hey Anuj…This sounds super cool. TRHSbnb is here 🙂

Indeed an excellent idea Anuj !!! In fact We have been doing this indirectly 🙂 I mean whenever I travel I try to ping/call The Rodinhooders over there and check whether I can meet them however what you are suggesting is definitely more organised way of doing it.
I am up for this in Pune !!! So whenever any Rodinhooder is travelling to Pune just ping/call me and we shall catch up !!!
Anuj Agrawal
I guess people are liking it and we must do a dry run for the same asap.
Lots of rodinhooders must be attending NPC, Can we create a post where the one who are attending NPC and want to catch other rodinhooders over a cup of coffee can drop their bio in a single line so that other people interested in meeting them can take the conversation ahead.
I am so much missing the implementation of LinkYou at NPC. 😐
Anuj Agrawal
Thanks Nithya, Lets execute it soon.

That’s gr8 Sunil… Even I would prefer tea over coffee coz we really don’t bother about “A lot” but something or the other will definitely happen over a cup of tea. 🙂

Thanks Tarun for giving it a name… it was much needed… 🙂

why didn’t u guys go??!! this is the best place to be at!!
i’ve already tweeted to meet priyadeep there – today all the venues are scattered so it’ll be crazy. alok and i are gonna be there tomo and day after. he has 2 sessions so we’ll be able to meet rodinhooders right after the sessions!!
Anuj Agrawal
woooooo… I have someone to look forward in Pune now… We must do it.
Anuj Agrawal
We are already here… have made LinkYou live on iOS and android both but did not launch it officially coz some bugs are still there…
Will catch you tomorrow… See if we can do a small meetup of 10-12 rodinhooders at the venue itself at eod…
Also, We will be catching up Alok for a short interview on the behalf of NASSCOM.

Just checked it… nice initiative but the process is complicated which is probably due to security reasons…
The process needs to be as simple as making a Facebook post… We need to drive it thru Rodinhood community only… Shall I make a blue print of the same and mail it to you?
Manas Pattnaik
Terrific. I want to do this.

Great idea Anuj. I’m in. It will be a great to share experiences. Lets meet up.

Hi Anuj,
Nice thought and something even i wish that existed. I am in complete agreement to meeting when TRH’ders meetup when in city. However, I also agree to @asha’s point. The stay should happen beyond the boundaries of TRH or else it might be additional hiccups for her.
Open for suggestion for the first case. There is an app 7SQ that does this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.sevensq.android&hl=en

hey anuj this is definitely a cool idea.. also because i have already experienced the benefits of something on similar lines, prior to my shifting from delhi to mumbai recently, i reached out to rodinhooders whom i barely knew well beyond exchanging social posts and they all extended help and were willing to assist in whatever way they could to make my settling here comfortable.. it would truly vouch for the community spirit that TRHS stands for..
Sunaina Shenoy
asha, now you have another option to stay in mumbai 🙂
also, the other day i had been to a children edutainment theme park here and was thinking that if #theeightyear old comes to mumbai, i would love to take her there.. n she would have a ball of a time i just guessed 😉

I loved this idea
But why not one step further?
An Uberpreneur for Entrepreneurs that combines Stay + Travel + Office – all targeted at entrepreneurs!
Anuj Agrawal
Hi Alok,
Thanks for appreciating the thought.
I think that we can start it small and in a very simple way. We can create a page on trh itself where people can post their travel plans and ask rodinhooders if someone would like to catch them over a cup of coffee or they can also post for some specific guidance they need in the city they are travelling to.
If this succeeds then we can plan of having Uberpreneur kind of thing you mentioned in your comment.
