5 Tips for aspiring women entrepreneurs
It’s been an year since I am associated with TheTechPanda, alongside managing job & family. Here are the 5 tips from my experience so far:
1.Have an idea of how much support you are going to get from your family. You’d know the people who would be willing to support you straight away, and others who would be resistant to your spending time on things other than job & family. Take the positive ones into your support early on. For the family members with resistance, it’s best to prove things to them rather than argue. However, always respect their opinion and move on.
2.Decide how much time you are going to spend per week. And stick to it. That way, you’d make progress along the way and the people around can see that you are serious about your venture.
3.Control yourself from talking about your startup ALL the time. I know, it happens and you are so enthusiastic about that email appreciation you got, or the first sales order your startup received. Or sometimes things don’t go as planned and you wonder if you should even do this startup. Definitely, celebrate the victories and vent your frustrations. But, don’t make them feel as if your startup is the only thing happening in home all the time.
4.Take time for yourself. It is very imperative that you catch up with your favorite movies, talk to your friends and enjoy your favorite sport. The best ideas come when you are not consciously working towards them.
5. Learn to manage time better. If possible, cut down on activities you can live without – the best example being watching TV. After you have a startup, it becomes imperative to evaluate every situation in your life and prioritize accordingly. Sometimes, it’s okay to leave everything behind and run after your startup, and sometimes you just have to be home and keep your laptop shut.
Easier said than done. I’m guilty of all these mistakes and have learned along the way. The biggest tip I’d like to give anyone reading this is to have Patience with yourself while navigating the startup journey.
